Not being a handyman, I commissioned it. Suited cloth from blownholley50 on Scott's Poker forum, volara, whisper vinyl, and 1" foam from yourautotrim.com, legs from casinosupply.com, jumbo cupholders from marineeast.com

The rail is a one-piece, 3-inch ring, fixed to the racetrack. The insert is cut from the same piece of ply as the racetrack.

I was disappointed with the graphics job, mostly because the 'artist' (and I did use a professional) allowed some paint to get outside the lines. So there is an 'aura' of light colour around the graphic. It looks better live than in the pics though, and I'm still pretty damned happy with the table. You can see on the bar a very kitschy replica of the 'Welcome To Las Vegas' sign that I picked up in a mall in Miami. It has colour-changing fiber optics, and the graphic is a copy of that (except my hometown is substituted for Las Vegas).

Oh, and I find that the insert is springy-er than I expected. Could it be because the cloth isn't drawn tightly enough?

Interested to know how much it cost to comission your table.

Very nice. I especially like the workmanship on the rail.

When you say "commissioned", do you mean the guy built the whole thing, or did he build parts and you assembled?

What was the final price-tag? How'd you find your handyman?

First off I'm in Jamaica, so other than the items that I sourced in the US, prices will not translate.

The parts (other than the ply) cost as follows (shipping to Miami):
<ul type="square">
Cupholders $20.00
Volara $23.85
1" HD Foam $19.95
Whisper Vinyl $38.85
Shipping $20.41
suited cloth $77.00
Folding Legs $16.95
Shipping (Legs) $20.00
Total $237.01
[/list]

I actually got it done by a small furniture factory - they do contract manufacturing, and I went to them with some pictures from Mark Junell's website (http://junell.smugmug.com/gallery/215897) which has construction photos and instructions (nuff respec' to Mark), and they drew up some plans and gave me an estimate. They supplied the wood and nuts &amp; bolts etc, and they did all the cutting and assembly, including upholstery, for $275. For reference, a sheet of ply locally is about $65, so the actual work cost about $150.

Oh and the artwork cost me just under $100.

We departed from Mark's plans in two respects - the rail, as I mentioned before, and also he used 3 sheets of ply - 2 3/4" sheets were used as baseboard and racetrack, and one 1/2" for the insert. This allows the insert to be flush with the racetrack once the 1/4" volara and surface cloth are put on. I decided not to buy the extra sheet. My playing surface does have a slight rise from the racetrack. Before bolting the pieces together we experimented with putting 1/4" scraps under the racetrack, but because the edges of the insert had been sanded, this created a lateral gap between the racetrack and insert.

Yeah, imageshack seemed to have had a problem, the image wasn't loading for me either. I'm seeing it now though, so hope you are too.

Is it the 1" of foam? Is that a little thick?

The 1" foam is on the rail. The 1/4" volara is under the playing surface.
