Party 55.

Reads on button:
He was raising a lot. A few hands before this one he moved all in with 44 (after a raise). I don't think I have much folding equity against this type of player. I had a chance to dominate him or fight one overcard (he had QJ).

Blinds are high (BB 400), I thought I can't afford to fold here. Calling out of position seems to be the worst play.

What do you think?

I much rather push a mediocre holding with a bigger folding equity next hand when you're on the button.

If you think he won't fold hands which you dominate, then go for it. The chances of you being dominated are veyr slim. If you win you have almost half the chips in play. I think this is a prime example of when to play for first.

I'm sure MP, BB, and UTG want to see you play for first in this situation. There are four possiblities. He has an underpair. Good for you. He has an overpair. Bad for you. He has overcards. Bad for both of you. He has Ax with x< 9. Good for you. 99 is a good hand, but do you really think its wise to take on the only player that can bust you? I hate to say it but I think I would fold this. If I thought he could fold I'd push but I think he'll call here so its an unecessary coin flip with your tourney life on the line imo.

Fold, you have good position and the opportunity to steal more chips from the SS players to your right is worth more than your folding equity or slight chipEV edge here. 99 is too small to push, you are 5050 with many of his holdings.

Thanks rob.

I agree with your analysis and conclusion.

This common scenario of PP versus two overcards gives so much equity to the other players - it can't be correct to push here. I think JJ-AA and AK will be my range of hands to do that. TT and AQ I don't know...
