From what I can tell they both started the machines and then attempted to hop on with a running start. The blonde girl is successful while the other is...well you can see the rest.

I think it was a race to turn the treadmill off..

This may explain why the girl on the right reaches where she does. Regardless, the three stages of her fall are all funny in different ways.
