This game is very passive so no raise on the flop means little. CO and button will both cold call preflop with mediocre holdings. How do you proceed on this turn?

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 9/images/graemlins/club.gif, 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
3 folds, Hero raises, 2 folds, CO calls, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls.

Flop: (8.5 SB) T/images/graemlins/club.gif, J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 8/images/graemlins/club.gif (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, CO folds, Button calls, BB calls.

Turn: (5.75 BB) K/images/graemlins/spade.gif (3 players)
BB checks, Hero ???

I would take the free card here and hope to hit your str8.

Check. You just lost ~2 outs.

If you were last to act, I'd say bet here - since the button is still in the action and didn't raise the flop (to try for the free flush card/build a pot) I'm thinking he has a made hand that is waiting for 4th st. to raise. I too would check here. If it gets checked by button, I open bet any non club river - otherwise fold to any bet.

I'd be more inclined to check if I was acting last.

I think this line is best. You gain the most and lose the least here.

The reason I advocate betting when last is that any made hand has to protect against the flush draw here, so a made hand wouldn't check to the button, giving them a potentially free card to the flush.

When I said "passive game"...

...hero checks, button bets, call, hero calls.
River blank: ck, ck, button bets, call, hero folds.

button shows KT and drags pot.
BB shows JT, flopped two pair.
