Id play it the same up to the river, where id just call the river raise.

I think I play it the way you did when I'm playing well. When I'm playing wussy I just call the river. I can't see him raising the flop with a boat or with QQ, only thing I can see him raising with (to chase out a flush draw) is QT, and you've got TT.

I think this is an overplayed AQ or KQ or J9 more often that it's QQ or QT or Q8. So I think 3-betting the river vs calling it, it's close. No shame either way.

This is where reads help, about whether he plays great hands fast or not.

Easy easy 3-bet on the river. I also probably would have 3-bet the flop.

I don't think there is anything wrong with 3-betting the river. There are only 3 combinations of hands that beat you: QcQd, QcTd, QdTd. Yet, he will play 88 this strongly as well as overplay QJ, KQ, AQ.
