Will someone please provide an explanation of the kill button? How it works / Purpose / etc? I recently played in a game and think I may have the general idea, but I can't say I have it completely. Any time it was in play, I was fortunately able to stay out of the way.

Thanks!

Where I play in town, we normally play with a half kill at 4/8. It is triggered by the same person winning twice in a row. The game bumps up to 6/12 and the person who killed the pot (the guy who won twice in a row) has to post a live $6.

This isn't quite as brutal as a pot size triggered kill. Those feed on themselves and won't go away until the pot is lower than the trigger amount. I don't mind playing a few hands above the table limits, but if I wanted to play 6/12, I'd go find a 6/12 table, and I don't want to right now.

The thing is, the kill increases action and WE LOVE ACTION. Some of the larger pots I've won have been the result of a kill. I'm no expert, but there's my experience with it.
