X-Men, the arcade.

Specifically the one on the massive screen, with 3 other dudes playing with you.

This is a good choice. I'm going with Ms. Pac Man followed closely by X-Men and similar (Simpsons), then Viper (top-scrolling plane shooter), then some sort of cop/sniper/shooting game. Also, there are two games that they used to have in the Grand Casino Hinckley (I'm talking circa 1996 here) that I have no idea what they're called, but they were awesome. The first was an F-16 simulator, the other was some sort of tank game. In the end, though, it's all about Ms. Pac Man.

Time Crisis has always been good but I like police 911 now, even though I look rather silly playing it. I'm a light gun fan, but X-Men is good too and I really liked the Simpsons game.

For games that you find in arcades, I'll go with this as well. I stick to BBH2 for bar games, followed by Golden Tee.

It took me nearly a week to figure out the fatalities and all for Sub Zero.

I could out-DDR the asian kid from the "You Got Served" South Park episode.

Actually, I played the game once and was really bad at it. Seeing as it's only cute when a little kid sucks at a game, I have chosen to refrain from it since.

NBA Jam! That was it. When it was out, I lived within walking distance of the Lucky 7 in Kirkland. My roommates and I used to GO AT IT playing this game (we all created our own characters and leveled them up). You haven't lived until you have swatted your buddy's dunk back in his face will simultaneously causing him to spill his Jack and Coke.

TY for the b-day wishes. One step closer to the grave...

Only 3? What about the massive cabinet version where 6 people could play at once? Now THAT was awesome.

TMNT also ranks way up there and Simpsons.

Double Dragon will always hold a place in my heart.

There was also a game, I think it was Neo Geo based, that was Double Dragon style fighting. Thing was, as I remember it, enemies dropped orbs or something and they shape shifted you into various forms (and I'm not thinking Altered Beast). I liked it, but have not been able to come up with the name and been looking for years now. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

i could crush you in galaga. If i was as good at poker as i am at galaga, my winrate would be roughle 1BB per hand, at least. Also, galaga is the greatest arcade game ever.

For the record, since i seem to do a lot of pointless bragging on old video game threads, i thought some context would be usefull. My parents divorced when i was roughly 18 months old, and my dad sued for custody. However, we didnt have much in the way of money or a babysitter, so i went to work alot with him. He worked for an amusment company. When i was still young enough to be car-seat bound, i would sleep in a display case. I was literally raised in an arcade, surrounded by what now are cheap old arcade games. The first party i ever went to was when i was 8, my dad took my to his works st patty's day party, which was a huge event at their bar. I pissed some stupid twenty year old hottie off when i wouldnt give her the spud mckenzie toy i won out of one of those crane machines. (I also pwn all crane machines, if they arent rigged.) This probably helps to explain alot of my other posts, now that i think about it....

As some anecdotal proof of my dominance, once my debate team was on a layover in atlanta waiting to fly back. I found a galaga machine, but only had two quarters. Two hours later, my debate partner found me still in front of the galaga machine, with one quarter left. I believe i topped 400K that time.

peace

Also, semi-funny story about Pac-man. Those of you familiar with card counting and its history may know of Ken Uston. One of the great card counting pioneers, and a very flamboyant gambler. Lived fast, died early, etc.

Anyways, when he first found out about this game, he played it for like 18 hours straight. He soon figured out a pattern for it, and wrote a book on it shortly thereafter. One of histories great gamblers was a video game nut/author.

Amazon.com book listing of it. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0451118995/qid=1109402745/sr=1-22/ref=sr_1_22/104-8747694-5447167?v=glance&s=books)

Track & Field
Hyper Sports
Kung Fu Master
Super Sprint
Space Harrier
Out Run

I'd probably pick Out Run as my favourite if pushed.
