Just making sure I am almost positive I call it. A Party $33 I am BB with 4000 chips 4 left sb moves in for another 250 blinds 50-100. I call with 3, 6 suited. An auto call I think regardless of my cards.

This seems to be the exact situation where some like to keep the small stack around because it's easy to steal blinds in lieu of the others fear of busting out on the bubble.

Far, far, far away from being an autocall. And it isn't close.

Do you see why?

Pot odds wise I have to think it's a call. I'd like to hear why the other posters don't think it is a call.

Big stack + small stack + bubble = happiness for big stack.

If you're a passive big stack that doesn't like to bully the others, then it's an auto call since you aren't using your big stack to its full potential. You're getting better than 2:1 odds for a minuscule part of your stack, so clearly call.

If you're an aggressive big stack that can steal from the medium stacks who are waiting for the little stack to bust out, then this is an autofold. You'd even fold premium hands to the little guy in this case.

Ya, personally I like having a small stack around when I'm the big dog, keeps everyone scared and honest.

If you fold this SS has about 400-500 chips. The other stacks with 700-800 will fold just about anything to your big stack if some other guy is about to be blinded off. It's beautiful when it works.

Its not that big of a secret. Small stack is your friend and you should be haoy to let him take down the pot so you can steal more chips from the other two.

If your asking if its a good pot odds call, then yes its fine, for a lot of other situations.

Guess I autocalled for doing the exact opposite in past then getting picked off then not making money. I do see your point though well worth stealing the other stacks and letting him take it.

If my goal is to double-up the short stack, then yes, I auto-call.

Otherwise, I wait until I have a reasonable hand to call with.

Actually he is only getting 1.8:1. 450:250 = 1.8:1

I think the odds of having the best hand by the river are worse than 1.8:1 so I fold.

Those at the table who A) don't understand poker and B) have a vested interest in you knocking out the small stack will give you hell in the chat box.

This is a good time for you to reply, "Pocket Jacks haven't been lucky for me tonight, I didn't want to risk it."

Thanks for the insight to someone new to tourney play. I don't think I would have picked this up for quite some time without this forum. These forum's are great.
