I love this forum but damn it can get you in trouble sometimes. Is it just me or is PokerRoom the worst online site period? And I thought Paradise was awful. This tops it! The numbers on the screen are microscopic, the strange characters in the chairs look like drug addicts, and the action is slow and brutal. Down 40 BB in my first sitting didn't do much for me either.

I'm looking for your thoughts on this site...

Before cashing out so I could have the cash for the Party reload I was up about 80BB in about 1200 hands. The tables were fairly tight but beatable. I'll be finishing off my sign-up bonus after I clear the Party reload.

I had no problems whatsoever with the software, it ran very smoothly for me.

And I have trouble seeing whos still in the hand at times and its tough to see the bet amount.
It seems relatively quick.

The bonuses r the worst to clear on the web.
It still beats pacific though.

I've been playing for the past few days (my first online poker anywhere) and haven't had problems. I'm not using the download version, though -- I'm on a Mac, so I have to use the browser.

Love that avatar, BTW. I'm a 1996 grad. You?

I miss playing poker at the casino there. Oh wait. That wasn't in Pullman when I was in school. Lucky bastards.

The server goes down from time to time, but when it is working the games go smoothly. I have found the 2/4 games sto be pretty soft. And you know you can turn off the characters and just have empty chairs, right?

I've had mixed experiences at PR. Have only played 1/2 through 3/6 there. The 2/4 and 3/6 (more so) seem to be hit or miss. Personally, I like the new graphics better than the old purple, but this isn't to say that they're the best on the net. My biggest negative experience there was the last two weeks and all the server/disconnect problems they were having... cost me a decent amount of money. I think it's worth the time and the bonus, at least at the limits I play.

Oh, and turn off the avatars... it helps. It's still difficult to tell where the action is, but it helps.

I turned 50 into 550 at pokerroom in about 3 weeks. I have no problem with the software, there are plenty of tables/players/SNGs to pick from, and the customer service is actually reachable on the phone. I'm wondering if my review of FTP which I might start on today will be as good.

The screen is the same size as any other site 800x600, so I find it surprising that the numbers are coming up small...... as for slow play, try switching to a table with faster players......give it a few days, I think as your win rate goes up you'll like the site better /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The main problem for me on that site is the table clutter. Look closely, and you'll find that the chips, the fake gold drink holders, and the button are all about the same size. The effect can be very confusing. If they'd just do away with the "drink holders" (or at least give you the option) the table would be a lot easier on the eyes. I sure hope they're reading this thread since they're costing themselves money by unnecessarily tiring their players.

Am I the only one who has monitor resolution problems playing at PokerRoom? I'll join a few wait lists at PokerRoom and set my monitor to 1600x1200 in preperation to multi-table. Then when the table just pops up in the corner of my monitor, it changes my resolution back to 1024x800 automatically! WTF?? It's a major pain when I'm playing at another site already and all of a sudden all of my tables are overlapping at the smaller resolution. Anyone else??

Have you tried Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet, Poker Mountain? or the Primas that require you to contribute to the pot? I think Poker Room is one of the easier ones to clear. And at the end of clearing the bonus, you usually have qualified to play in one or both of their free rolls.

I rally like Pokerroom. My biggest complaint is that the tables aren't the easiest to see and they only list one bonus at a time on your account page.

The bonuses are harder to clear because they don't rape you on small pots. As a player, I appreciate that. As a bonuswhore, I wish they would just rake everything /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Class of 2000. Luckily was there for the 97 season and Rose Bowl. Sounds like you had some nice times there as well though with Drew, the Palouse Posse, and a decent B-ball team /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Me too! Live near Tacoma now, where are you at? We get back there about once every other year, it's great to go back. Carry-out special, 2 pizzas for the price of 1! Did you know that they completely shut down the CCN courtyard party? We used to live right in the middle of that action but now they barracade the entire complex so no one will hang out there. Pretty sad /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've made almost the exact same complaints a few times on this forum and in an email to PR. I signed up for a couple bonuses a few months ago. I cleared one and quit. Graphics problems: everything in similar dark colors--chips and drink holders etc get confused. I overlook players/bets in the hand. action buttons are dark, just outlined, on the same color background--they don't grab your attention when you have cards. from some positions either a bet or the button is so far from the player that you can not tell if it is for, eg, the seven eight or nine seat. one time I bet into two players thinking I was button when I was SB. all this is in the context of multitabling six tables, one various sites at the same time. because of the dark buttons, etc, I've timed out at PR more often than any other site several times over. the games can be good, but it is a small site: after some 3-6 to get my feet wet, I played 5-T and 10-20. usually I'd find 1-3 5-T's and one 10-20. LAGs would show up periodically and a game would get really good. but the core players were terribly weak tight. they could be beaten, but it would be miserable. a table full of regulars could quickly get down to like a 3BB pot average. I've seen higher limit games that looked good, but never ventured.

so, yeah, what you said: I gave up on it pretty quick. except I still want to check out the PLO action.

I only have $700 in my neteller at the moment and other in play at other sites. I have around $100 in pokerroom at the time. If I transfer whatsever left in the pokerroom back to netteller, would i be able to deposit this for the reload? I want to cash out $100 so I can deposit $800 tomorrow for the bonus.

That happens to me too. The only way I could avoid it is to set my resolution to 1600x1200 before starting up the software.

I am a Pokerroom fan. For a very long time (2 years) PR was the only place I could play b/c I am a Mac guy. I have since gotten a G5 w/Virtual PC and play on all the other sites too, and still prefer PR. The story goes that PR was designed by Mac users, which might explain why I like the interface SO much more than PP or Paradise. Or, it's just what I'm used to. Either way, I bonus whore the other sites but PR is my home.

In the 2 yrs I've played there almost every day, the only problems I've experienced are the oft-mentioned server crashes. A tip for when/if it happens when you're there: go to the main lobby or, better yet, the lobby of a freeroll that got frozen when the server crashed. A large number of people will be FREAKING out and typing all manner of profanity over and over. "I skipped work to play in this tournament", "I missed my parents funeral to play here", "F this, F that, F you, F you too, no YOU Mfer", "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah". Freerolls are the best, those people completely lose it when the free money dries up. Tease them, you'll see how much fun it is.

I have a few issues with pokerroom.
It has tended to not run very well on my computer at times.
I don't like the tables and how it is sometimes difficult to tell who's in the hand and whose action it is (and yes...lI turn off the avatars).
I don't like the problems getting to your own table in a tournament.
I don't like the random disconnects.

I remember that you couldn't turn off the animation....so if you leave the sound on (which I like to do) you hear non-stop riffle and shuffle on each and every table and it's loud and annoying. The sounds I believe sound off even if that table isn't at the front of the screen.

I also don't like what a pain it is to re-buy in the ring-games. You have to sit-out, then you can go to cashier, and then re-buy. so if I'm running a little low on a given table I have to find a hand that I can fold...sit-out really fast and then re-buy quickly enough to not miss the next hand...all the while trying to act on the other tables.
Having to sit-out to re-buy is annoying.

I haven't played there in awhile so some of these things may have changed since then.

I could be a fan...but there's enough problems there that keep me away.

I was shocked at how many people seem to be clearing bonuses in the casino. The threshold for being in the top 50 for points accumulated in the casino jumped from about 550 Wednesday to over 1000 points on Thursday, and 900 Friday.

I usually play a bit of poker, then clear the rest of the bonus at their blackjack, 2-deck with a 0.24% HA. I pay back about a third of the bonus in house advantage, but it saves time.

I used to have this problem (until upgrading my monitor to one I'm happy to have in 1600x1200 all the time).

The way around it is to change to 1600x1200 resolution *before* firing up the Pokerroom software. Crap bug, but avoidable.

I'm happy with pokerroom, though as a Mac user I'm a captive audience. The games are good, though over the past couple days they've gotten tighter and tougher, probably because all of you are on there clearing bonuses. Hurry up and get out, will you?

yes this is fugging annoying!

I used to play PR every once in a while now I just avoid it.Once I got multiple rakeback accounts at Party PR was history. No reason to mess with its medicore games, software and support.
Another thing not yet mentioned is PokerRoom is one of the few rooms like Party that use bogus pot averages-including uncalled bets.So pot averages are even crappier than they already are..

Yes. Why would they be against this? You take out a 100 bucks and reload 800. They are very pleased and thank you for your generosity.
