MP1 is kind of a moron. Easy call?

Interesting, what do you think would be an appropriate raise? I'd be afraid that more than 3xBB is going to possibly chase out both limpers.

If I have two limpers I MIGHT raise 4xBB but I don't see any problem with 3x.

That's an auto-call.

well general rule is 3x + 1x for each limper, but with AA I might make it 1600 or so half the time, and 2k half the time.

Did you underbet the flop to induce a bluff?

I'd probably raise more, 1600 or 2k. I don't want both of 'em to come along, I'd rather try and get it heads up. Not to mention there is still 1400 out there for the taking already, so if everyone folds I'm not terribly upset. As for the flop play, I call and expect 'em to be good most the time.

I have a few thoughts on this one.....

I think the other posters are right, that making it about $1600 to go sounds about right, but they are probably going to call that if they called $1200, so don't think it makes much difference overall, but a good techincal point.

My next thought is that I think you underbet the pot on the flop. There is $3800 (+ any antes) in the pot and you bet $1000. I think that if you are intentionally underbetting the pot, then it's an auto call/reraise if you get raised. I would've put in about 1/2 to 2/3 of the pot. Anyone with a hand here would be getting almost 5 to 1 on a call on your $1000 bet. Obviously, if you bet $2500 here, then calling his raise is an easy decision.

Maybe not answering the question, but I would've bet more on the flop to make the pot odds a lot smaller for those behind me (granted, not many possible draw hands, but you said the guy was a dope) and then I'm pot committed so I don't have to make a tough decision with AA here.

To address your question specifically on how you played it, I call here. You may get clipped by a set, but he's just as apt to be playing TT or some such.

I looked at 3 things in your post before replying...

1. MP1 is kind of a moron.

2. Hero is BB with A /images/graemlins/spade.gifA /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

3. Flop is 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif5 /images/graemlins/heart.gif2 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

YES... and save the bad beat posts for somewhere else b/c that's all this could possibly be

2 reasons actually:
1. An overpair to this board might put me on overs and reraise to protect his hand, so not so much induce a bluff, but induce a bet certainly.
2. This player had previously called me down with overcards, so I wanted to give him a chance to hit a single pair that he might be really proud of. Not very worried about a draw on this board.

In my opinion this *is* an easy call, but as I made it, it occurred to me that he (being a moron) might be overplaying a set. That turned out not to be the case, but it crossed my mind.

Gavin, I think he stated that he won the hand, so I don't think this is a bad beat post. (check his last post) But other than that, I would call this here, especially with your read on the guy. Expect to see 10 10 or even lower pocket pairs who misread your hand.
