Yes it is. You typically have a large pot equity advantage here over 3 loose limpers and the blinds. Every bet that goes in preflop makes you money.

Yeah this is an autoraise preflop. Raising in this spot puts an extra ~.3-.4 SB in your pocket (compared to limping) against 3 limpers and a random BB hand (assuming that he calls). KJs is a damn good hand.

Doh. I misread your post. This is such an obvious preflop raise that I read your post too fast and thought you were asking about the flop play. Yes, raise preflop. Punish them for limping with trash.

umm.. i don't get it... do you think your raise had something to do with the flop coming up 3 diamonds like that? how does this hand illustrate your point?

wouldn't you raise KQs from this position?

KJs isn't a helluva lot worse.

i'm so confused.

preflop. KJs will easily win its fairshare and you have position. +EV raise.

flop. the flop completely missed you with an Ace and 3 diamonds on the board and it went bet-call. easy muck.

Yes this raise is routine especially with your position. I would raise with this from the CO or CO+1 as well possibly even earlier.

it all depends on your position, who you're playing with and how easily u can read your opponents, if u can read their tells at all. the odds of making a straight draw or flush draw on the flop are very slim. don't fall into a false sense of security with two face cards in the pocket when one of those face cards is a jack.
