View Full Version : How much do you sleep?

I am a hardcore insomniac. I sleep probably 2-3 hours a night. If I have something really serious to do and need to be super rested, I need a lot of pills to sleep a full 8 hours.

How about you?

Less than 8 hours and I'm as cranky as a baby.... ask my fiance--she'll confirm it. In a dark room I could probably sleep 14 hours a day.

6-7.5 hours is ideal for me.

I can operate fine on 3, but more than 8 and I feel worse than if I got no sleep.

Getting old man. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Usually from 4:00-9:00 weekdays. 11 hours at least on weekends.

If I don't need to get up for anything (thank you college), then it's usually 9ish. When I gotta get up early I make it more like 6. I'm actually fine regardless though. We leave for club sports tournaments at like 5am on 1-3 hours of sleep and plenty of drinking the night before.

Hmmm. Hard to say. I poker until about 5 or 6 am on weekdays, get up between 8 and 10 for varsity (so that's about 3hrs on avg) and then sleep for another 3-4 in the afternoons.

Probably about 7 overall, but given the opportunity I'll sleep for a day.

As opposed to say.... working? Sleeping is a part of life. Hell other mammals sleep 16+ hours a day. Are their lives pointless? Does it matter? Who cares?

I agree.. sleeping this much is a waste of life. Plenty of time to sleep when I'm dead =)

Currently I sleep about 8 hrs in a 24 hr cycle but often it's 3-4. The body adjusts.

5-6 most nights, but at least 1 night a week I need about 8 or 9 to get recharged.

I could be well rested after 7 or 8 its just 90% of the time I lay there and go back to sleep for another couple hours. Which is why its kind sad (IMO), cuz I'm just lazy.

sin808

I can sleep 10-14 hours if uninterrupted. Since I work nights I only get about 6-7 hours a day.

I just had surgery yesterday though so I'm pretty much sleeping all the time right now.

During the week it ranges from 3 to 8, depending on how much I procrastinate. On the weekends it NEEDS to be at least 10, even if that means sleeping in until, say 4 in the afternoon.

I also usually take plenty of naps throughout the day.

I think the longest I've slept is 16 hours; that was in a windowless room.

Jman28
02-25-2005, 01:33 AM
I actually worry about the opposite problem. I think my body needs 13 hours of sleep a day. If I sleep only 8, I need a nap badly. It really sucks. balls.

There is something in the brain, i cant remember of the top of my head what it is now, but it results in us needed more sleep to function and stay healthy as we get older, along with our internal time clock gets earlier and earlier /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have class 2 days a week. I sleep about 3-5 hours before those days and about 10ish every other day. Taking 10 hours is the nuts. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow, you guys sleep a LOT.

Sigh. I've been for treatment after treatment, and no luck. I just can't seem to get to sleep. Happily, I am generally pretty alert on a daily basis. Maybe my body has adjusted.

Indian Premed friend of mine does this:
take a piss, then drink like 1-2 liters of water and go to sleep. when you wake up (alarm or naturally) you won't feel tired and will have a reason to get out of bed post haste. he sleeps (verifiably) 3 hours a night.

I do it too when i know i won't be getting much sleep and it works pretty well for me. also great when the reason and the solution to lack of sleep is one in the same (drinking)

5-7 on average and I can get by on less for a good while if I have to. Interestingly (to me anyway) I feel much better if I sleep an odd amount of hours. Like 3 or 5 is better than 4 or six.

It doesn't matter if I sleep 3 hours a night or 15 hours a night, I'm still F-ing tired and hate getting out of bed.

But yeah, I can sleep...seemingly forever, and it never seems like enough sleep. Any time throughout the day where my mind stops or rests, I immediately get tired. If I sit down to watch TV, I get tired. On the other hand, if I am doing something (like playing poker), I can go on for quite some time without getting very tired.

WTF is wrong with me? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Used to get a solid 7+ before on-line Poker. I cannot sleep once the Sun comes up, so if I play late which is usually the case, 5 to 6 hours is about it. And I'm definitely not as alert with less, so I've got to drag myself away from the computer at a decent hour and get into the rack.

I don't like this idea. I already drink tons of water. I would be needing to get up within a couple of hours. But when I have to take a leak while sleeping, I don't wake up right away. Instead I have bizarre dreams of trying to find a toilet, and when I find them they are always overflowing and I can't use them. It's really annoying.
