Did anyone see on teh cardlpayer tounrey listings that the plaze is hosting a no limit tourney with a $50,000 buy-in this May. Has anyone seen or heard anything about this? Is this gonna be big or no?

I'll be there. My problem with the Plaza is that once again, they are not promoting their tourneys. Once again, they haven't decided if the juice is going to be 5% max or 4% max. Once again, they are shaky on a TV contract. Once again, they are not running sats for this thing. Once again, they said they were going to have ongoing remote satellites (one I know of and planned on playing in Laughlin), yet have failed to provide the lammers to the cardroom manager, who is stuck just giving out pieces of paper, vouchers, which he promises to make good on...

Sound like a real mess? Yeah, I think so, too.

Will I still be there to at least give it a whirl? Yeah. Maybe I'm really gay like Clarkmeister alleges...

Would anybody play a single table satellite for 5K+ to win their way into this event even if they offered them? I would think that the players that would play a STT to win in are going to buy in anyway, they'd just be playing to make some extra cash.

Felicia, how much would a super satellite buy in run for this event? $2500 that awards 1 in 20 or so? What have they said down there?

I'm really more interested in the Stud and mixed game events:

Mon, Apr 25 at 12:00 PM 7-Card Stud $1,000
Wed, Apr 27 at 12:00 PM 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo $1,500
Mon, May 2 at 12:00 PM HORSE $1,500
Sun, May 8 at 12:00 PM 7-Card Stud $3,000

Maybe even the O8 events and A-5 Draw.

My weakest game is HE, not to mention I don't even care for it that much.

Naturally, though, if I win a sat and someone hands me a 50k lammer, I'm going to play, I won't hand it back, lol.

The Plaza has had an excellent structure in the past, and is promising the best structure, ever, for tournaments, patterned after the old WSOP structure, barely increasing in blinds, with a ton of chips. This is going to benefit a rock like me, so that is why I'm going, even with their lack of advertising and promotion.

Their promise of a max of 4-5% juice on even the smallest events doesn't hurt things!

Larry Flynt had a $125k Stud tourney at the Hustler. I think only 8 or 9 showed up for it, but I believe that is the largest buy-in event I've ever seen.

I'm saving my quarters for the next one, lol!

This is what they are saying they are going to run:

Tue, Apr 19 Single Table Satellites
Notes: Multiple Buy-ins running 24 hours a day through May 11
Wed, Apr 20 Super Satellites $225
Notes: 4PM and 8PM running though May 10
Tue, May 10 Super Satellites $225
Notes: 10am 3pm 7pm 11pm

Whether this is how it's going to be or not, I have no idea. Someone who knows Ben Magee better than me has a call into him right now. When he returns the call, I'll post more.

I'm not sure if that was an open tourney or an invitational. I know it was 8 people because it was a $1 million prize pool. If I recall correctly, Barry Greenstein won it and Larry came in 2nd. I think they paid two spots.
