View Full Version : Been to Bellagio lately?

How's the poker room looking? I was distraught when I found out a little while ago that they were renovating the room right when I was planning on being there (and have to play off my poker rate hours). I'll be going out there a week from tomorrow. How bad is it playing out on the general casino floor? How noisy is it - from construction and from the rest of the casino? I must say I'm quite disappointed that my first major Bellagio poker experience will be under these conditions, but I guess it's for the better in the long run. I'll have to hit it up when I'm back in June and I'm pretty sure my annual college buddies trip, among other trips, will be at the Bellagio at least for the next few years - I'll have plenty of opportunities to play in the new room.

I was there last week. The poker room is now out in the pit and its really not bad at all. Everything was running very smoothly. FWIW, I played a couple of hours of 8/16 while my girlfriend played slots and the game was very soft.

I was there this past weekend. I've never seen the actual room, so I didn't mind playing in the temp space. The 2/5 NL was great, much better than the Mirage and definitely worth the long wait times. Just sign up, go eat a meal (or play some fishy 1-5 7stud) and come back in time for your name to get called. Keep in mind that it was mobbed by long weekend tourists, which may have softened the game and increased the wait times.

I was there this past weekend. Long waits and the 4/8 game was easily the worst game I have ever played in...4-5 times when I was the Big Blind I was checking with all 10 players limping in with absolute crap. 3 or 4 players calling all the way with middle or bottom pair.

Unfortunately, the callers kept hitting. I had 10-10 beaten by a 6-4o that caught a 4 on the river for two pair, A-A beaten by a k-7o that caught a third 7 on the river, etc., and I saw a bunch of beats worse than that. It was pretty ugly for the 8 hours I played on Sunday.

It was my first time playing B&M, are the tables typically like this?

That sounds like a dream table to me. 10 people to see a flop when I get a freebe in the bb, gotta love it.

i hope that by "worst" you meant your opponents were the worst and thus you were happy to play in it, and not "worst" as in you hate to play in those kind of games.

SB:

Were these locals or tourists playing this loose?

Compared to Foxwoods, Vegas locals love to see flops and chase draws.

To be fair, I think we'd all love to play in those games, but they can be VERY aggravating if you're catching the wrong end of the beats.

absolutely. the blackhawk/central city games are like that. nevertheless, that's what makes them so profitable.

I don't see how it is possible for locals anywhere to be worse than the Foxwoods locals. And this totally flies in the face of everything that Clark et al say about the Mirage 20 game.

Oh, and to answer your other question, I didn't find it noisy at all.

I declare road trip! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Its semi-true, some locals were flop crazy, others were total passive rocks who cannot play after that. Tourists liked to see a lot more flops that they do in AC (I don't do Foxwoods, so I cannot compare). Also I find the games to be much more passive in LV than in AC. Playing in AC truely makes you understand what shaped Ed Miller's experiances.

It's not noisy at all, because the temp area is far from the construction. In fact, the only downside is the long walk to the cage. On the plus side, the waitress service seems to be better than normal.

We're talking the 4-8 game locals not the 20 game locals. When was the last time Clark played in the lowest game in the room?

I believe Linda (pokerworks.com) said they moved the poker cage close to the temp space.

Yeah, more or less. B&M games are almost always much softer than games of the same size online.

That was only a problem for the first for days... problem now solved, they made a temp chip cage in the temp room.

i always found the bellagio room to be noisy cramped and hot. i bet it's much better now that it's in an open space.

I might be talking out of my ass, which wouldn't be the first or last time. But I just can't imagine anyone being looser than Foxwoods locals. And that includes Party 0.5/1. I would routinely see 3-4 way showdowns at Foxwoods at the 5/10 and 10/20 games, and I can't see how the games would get tighter at 4/8 or 2/4.

I believe you can work off the Bellagio room rate hours while playing at Mirage.

That's the second time I've heard this. I find it to be reasonably believable, but I still have a bit of doubt. It seems rude to go up to the Bellagio poker office and say "Hey, I'm getting this great rate at your place, but can I actually play off my time at the Mirage?" I realize they're both under the same ownwership and whatnot, but still...

I'd like to spend some time at the Mirage anyway, so this would be great. I don't want to get stuck with the regular Bellagio room rate though if it doesn't work out. Anyone know for sure for sure or where I can get the official word on this without being in the position I described above?

One other thing is that the Bellagio deal is a bit sweeter than the deal at the Mirage, as once you get rated the first time you're there, you don't have to play any more on subsequent trips in order to still get the poker room rate. This is not true at Mirage, plus they require 8 hours per day compared to Bellagio's 6 per day. I wonder if playing off my time at the Mirage would influence the deal I get at Bellagio at all. Are there different levels of being rated, or does rated mean rated and that's it?

All this is probably moot, as I'll have no problem getting 24 hours in at the Bellagio anyway - especially when one of my friends is going to help me play it off. I'll probably still have time for a decent dose of the Mirage.

Just tell them you like the tournaments at each site, and so you need an account at both places /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Seriously, I would call up the Bellagio poker room and just ask them 'anonymously'.

Do it in person. Its not an official policy, but the Bellagio said they would bend the rules to make me happy.

Worst as in the worst players. Loved the table, hated the continued bad beats...and river cards that I kept seeing one player pull out from so far up his ass that the card had a little bit of brains on it.

The poor play kept getting rewarded all afternoon/evening long. It would have been great over the long run, but I took a beating in the short time I was there.
