Seriously Tech has no chance. (Come on reverse jinx)

Pick 'em at VIP and Sportsbook

GT -1 at Pinny

Does this fall into the ranked vs. unranked home favorite NoChance?

Duke opened as a 1-point favorite. The first requirement for the unranked home favorite play is that the unranked home team OPEN as a favorite.

I like Duke in this one, but I'm sure it will be tight.

Another game to look at for the unranked vs. ranked principle that doesn't quite qualify as such a game is Nova hosting BC. Nova is ranked (but only No. 24) and opened as 4.5-point favorites over BC. I'm getting on Nova at -4.5.

EDIT: Interesting movement on the Duke/GT line. It's fluctuating back and forth between Duke -1, PK and Duke +1. At Pinnacle, the line just jumped from Duke +1 back to Duke -1. Seems like a pretty big one-step move to me - any of the vets have comments on what quick line moves like this may mean?

When did the lines open? I checked early this morning and VIP and sportsbook had nothing, then I just checked and they have the PK. Did Pinnacle go up last night or something?

I just find it really hard to believe that money is flying in on the GT side and moving the line.

Don't know when each book hung its opening number, but the site linked below is pretty useful for comparing books and checking what the opening numbers are:

My guess would be that some big bettors are on both sides of this game. Some of them like Duke, and some like GT.

While -1 to +1 is a 2pt. swing many books will change from +1 to -1 or vice versa with enough action to cause a 1pt move if the spread was higher. In both college and pro Baskets unlike football there are no key (spread) numbers, such as 3, 6, or 7 in football. The truth is that a one point margin in hoops occurs about 1/2 as often as any number from 1-10 pts. Since a 1 point spread in hoops is not a key # (and 50% as probable as any other single digit #) it becomes easier for books to go from -1 to +1. This is a very good reason not to tease hoop games where you go from favorite to dog (Like teasing -2 to +2)

Very very few situations in which you would want to tease hoops anyway.

"Very very few situations in which you would want to tease hoops anyway." It depends what kind of odds and lines you can get on teasers. The coast casinos in town offer 5PT 11/10 hoops teasers, which still will lose long term, but compared to 4PT 11/10 odds its bearable. I cant remember the last time I have teased a game in any sport.

You are missing opportunities if you don't play NFL teasers on a regular basis.
