ROI = (total profit)/(total buy-ins)

ROI = (Amount won - amount invested)/amount invested

So if you buyin to a $10+1 and win $50 ROI = 39/11 = 355%

thanks,
whats a reasonable ROI to expect after 160 $10 SNG games? I'm sitting at ROI 13.6% and ITM 40%

If your ITM is 40% and your ROI is 13%, I would say you are finishing 3rd alot.

You got it. It's a pain in the neck. What advise can you give to improve?

Shoot for 1st..settle for 3rd. I know that sounds odd being that you are finishing 3rd alot now, but what I mean is PUSH every opportunity that you get. You will find that you will take the blinds and build your stack.

Sounds like you are in a similar boat as I was (and still am, to some degree). Of the times I was ITM, my payoffs went:

1st: 10%
2nd: 50%
3rd: 40%

Leaving me with an ROI of 4% and an ITM of 42%

I was trying to use the "play for 1st and settle for 3rd strategy," but I was playing too tight for too long, folding my way to (and sometimes past) the bubble, and then being so shortstacked that I was forced into an all-in fest where I eventually ran into a bigger hand.

Now I've opened up earlier and taken a few more chances in the middle rounds. I get more 6ths and 7ths, but also more 1sts and 2nds. And since I was also getting my share of 4ths and 5ths (which pay exactly the same as 6ths and 7ths), I figure it's a good trade-off.

Again, I'm still new at all this (still less than 100 SnGs myself) so take it with a grain of salt.
