Tournament Final Table

Just wanted to get some thoughts from everyone on making the final table in a given say 150 person tourney.

Empirically speaking I think you need to push/call all in (and possibly have to draw out) at LEAST 3 times MINIMUM to be able to play your way in to the final 9/10 players. Of course there are exceptions, but on an average that seems to be case for me.

Any thoughts or other observations?

I disagree. As long as your opponents are weak/tight and let you run over their blinds, you really need 0 bad beats to make it. Maybe a second best hand to get your stack going but thats about it.

this is very untrue

in point of fact, i final tabled this mornings' pstars 30 + 3 without being all in a single time. (not like one example proves something contrary, but...)

I dunno Ive played 2 tournaments a night, 5 days a week for over a year. and I finish in the top 20 (of 150-250) maybe 85% of the time.
Ive never run into a tourney full of weak/tight players. If you play too conservative you wont have enough chips at the later blinds. And you cant simply "run over" everyone.

this might be a dumb answer, but if you get a big stack early, then you'll always be putting other people all-in instead of being all-in yourself.

Do you keep stats? Seems incredibly high. I know 85% is too high for me reaching the final table in 2-table s&g's.
