blah blah first post. i've been doing decently in PS SnGs for about a week now and this is my first really bad beat. Can't tell if there is any way i could/should have played this any better.

Looks okay ....you could consider betting more on the flop, but it's then obvious to your opponent that you are pot committed and reduces any chance of them makinga move with garbage. However I find this holds truer in the higher buyins.

i thought about betting more, but the table was playing so tight with one seat to money. we'd had ~20 hands with 4 left and the highest pre-flop call was about 3x BB. so i put out 4x and hoped i'd catch somebody with a great hand and maybe have them push it, or get a call with a marginal/bad hand and push after the flop. did i not bet enough after the flop? should i have settled for trying to take the pot there or do you think it wouldn't have mattered since he called my all in after the turn with only 2nd pair anyway.

Your preflop raise is fine, Im talking about the flop bet. Its generally considered somewhat weak to bet the same amount on the flop that you bet/raised preflop. By definition you won't be properly protecting the pot when you do so, however you may encourage him to try to bluff you out with no hand.

i was actually trying to catch him. i didn't see him calling 4xbb with anything on that board unless he hit trips. with such a weak flop i figured i could safely put out a small bet and hope for a call and push the turn.
