hello all, I am a good NL live tournament player, I would like to start playing online. I will start with a small initial bankroll (maybe 100 to start), based on your experience, what limit should I start with? and should I stick to NL or play limit?

Thanks in advance

If you're a good tournament player maybe start by playing some low buy-in ($2 or $5) NL single table tournaments.

If $100 is your bankroll, don't sign on at Party/Empire just yet. Most people would agree that $100 is only enough money to play NL with a $5 buyin, or $0.15/$0.30 limit.

So get an account on PokerStars and play the micro-limit (0.01/0.02) NL games. Or equivalently small limit games. Online poker will be somewhat different from what you're used to -- get a feel for it cheaply.

Also, you should learn about bonus-whoring to help build up your bankroll. There's a great thread on this somewhere but I am too lazy to search for it.

Definitely start with the SnG (for example , Party $5+$1) It's about the easiest game out there, which also has minimal risk to $100 bankroll....I have had to restart my bankroll a couple of times (once due to increased life expenses, and once due to a terrible case of tilt...I won't lie about it /images/graemlins/wink.gif....and both times it's slow, but steady $...I can practically place at will....Good luck

Thank you guys for the advice, I actually played 3 SnG last night, 2 5+1 and one 10+1, finished 8th in the first one but then finished first in the last two, then played a little 3/6, my bankroll is up to 250 now, wow.

woah, definetly don't play 3/6 with that bankroll, .5/1 is the place for you if you want to play limit.

If you keep playing 3/6 with $250 you're highly likely to go broke. Read about bankroll management.

I couldn't agree more....your way over your head if indeed $250 is your bankroll....I could see dabbling in a little 1/2 if your a winning player, but if your going to be a permanent ficture there, I would suggest twice the B-roll you have

I agree with you guys, I just wanted to get a feel of the 3/6, I actually enjoy tournaments more, I think they need more skills than luck (unlike LH), anyways, I will start with the .5/1 and maybe sometimes 1/2. I have a big live tournaments tonight so I better go get ready. Thanks
