Woo Hoo!!!

My wife just told me that she is springing for a 500 set of the Egyptians for my birthday. My question is as follows: What case do I get? Holdempokerchips.com offers two choices, the Aluminum, which holds 550 and the Vinyl, which holds 500. I am getting 500 of the regular rounds and my main concern is trying to figure out how many more Octagons, and Plaques will fit into the card slots in each of these cases.

Has anyone figured this out yet?

In addition, can someone tell me how the texture is one these chips? I really like the rough texture of the Mardi Gras and Desert Sands and I was wondering if the Egyptians were the same.

I'll let someone else handle the case question.

Re: Texture: The rounds are satin finish, a tad bit of texture but mostly smooth. The octagons are linen finish a lot like your Mardi Gras, but a little rougher. They will "lock" into each other if you line them up. The plaques are completely glossy, which makes a great portrait of Tut.

Here is the 550 ct case

As you can see one of the slots for cards has been replaced with 2 rows (25ea) for chips. Also this case is a "slimline"
case and will not be approiate for Plaques or Octagons. This is my favorite case for 39mm rounds though.

Here is the Vinyl case

I was able to place 20 Plaques in the front card slot and 40 Octagons in the back. Closing the lid took a very very slight extra pressure to close as the Plaques are taller than the chips. But there was no real possibility of damage to the case or plaques. Probably a perfect fit as the Plaques will not shift. I could also place 11 Plaques and 24 Octagons (in two rows) in a regular chip slot.

Here is a picture of a "standard" aluminum case with the padding in the top.

I do not sell this case at this time but may have to seeing my 550 ct case is not usuable for this set with the Octagons and Plaques. There is 20 Plaques and 40 Octagons in this case and it closes nicely. These are the most common cases found today.

I hope this helps /images/graemlins/spade.gif

I bought an "Elite700" chip case from gamelandsports.com, I'm not sure who else sells them. It was more expensive than a standard aluminum case and the materials used for the interior are a little disapointing but It feels MUCH more secure than a standard case. I only have nexgens and I'd rather trust them to this Elite700 than any other portable case I've seen in person. I would be absolutely terrified of carrying around $500 worth of chipcos in a cheapie case, visions of scrambling around on the sidewalk picking them all up...

Thats does help a bit, are you going to sell the last case? How many rounds does it hold?

Very nice case.
I just saw your pictures in another post, can you tell me your total chip count of what fit nicely, including the Octagons a and plaques. Looks like you have only a few plaques. Do they slide around?

The top holds 54 rounds per row, the bottom holds 60 rounds per row. That side compartment holds 2 rows of plaques 25 high each, and 2 rows of octo's 28 chips each. So the case holds 564 rounds, 50 plaques, and 56 octos. This would be a full case. I would definately spend extra on this case it's really nice. The lock is basically for show but the rest seems really solid. I probably would like to see 2 nice locking clasps on there instead.

The plaques will fall over into the rows of octos if you shake it good. The octos don't move at all. Normal movement they stay secure.

Get some clear lammers to fill the rows. Sometimes they get in the way of shutting the lid when they fall over.

The case pictured above is the 500 model. I have the 750 model. It holds 78 chips per row (round or octogon). The octogons can fit in any row top or bottom. You can fit 10 plaques in a row sideways, maybe a few more, but dunno as I only have 10. You could also put the plaques in the card slots if you wish 6 high for a total of 12.

Guller, not to threadcrap, but I noticed your from Traverse City, what are the best places to play poker up there? Im from Muskegon and goto Little River sometimes, but thats my extent of casino poker.

I know of least three very near Traverse City. I haven't been, but I went on a company paid getaway up there a couple of years ago. They were running freeroll blackjack at the lodge, so we didnt hit the casinos.

Leelanau Sands is the closest to me. It's in Peshawbeetown (Suttons Bay). It's OK they have a daily 4-8 limit game and weekly NL tourney's.

As you already know Little River is just a little farther away down in Manistee.

St Ignace runs tourneys and they have a dealers choice game, but that's getting a little far away now.

Soaring Eagle in Mt Pleasant is also good, much larger room with more games than any of the above. I would definately check out Soaring Eagle.

Just so I am clear, this case which is advertised as a 500 chip capacity, will actually hold 564 of the Egyptain Chipcos? Are the Egyptians thinner than normal chips? Also, would it be possible to fit a row of the Octagons in one of the round rows and still be able to close the lid?

Thank you so much for all the answers!!

Yep exactly 564 chips. I don't think they are any thinner, I think the case is a little larger.

THE OCTOS:

They will not fit in the round rows on the bottom of the case. They stick up just a little too high and the top chip rack will sit on them. If you lean them over (not a full row) they will fit.

They fit fine in the top rack in any of the rows. They will even fit in side by side rows. You can fill the entire top rack with them and it would still shut.

I recommend using the open side slot on the bottom for the octos and plaques. This part of the case just seems made for it to me. But I have 2 of these cases filled with egytians and the cards and button fill the other one so. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
