Has anybody heard of plastic cards called Windmill? Haven't seen them yet, but someone is offering them to me relatively cheap locally. The ace of spade says windmill and says made in japan on them. Didn't find any info with a search. Here is a pic.

I do not have windmill cards but I do have a deck of "Cambor" plastic cards and the ace of spades has the same windmill graphic as you have, without the windmill name. Probably the same company.
That said, I did notice that the cardboard cover that wrapped the plastic case was an identical design to the Royal cards cover, so they all could be produced by the same manufacturer. The Cambor/Windmill deck I have is also the same quality (poor) as the Royal deck that I own....
Royals are common and can be had for very little money, but most here will tell you that they are not even worth THAT. YMMV

Yup, paper cards are better than these. I found some similar ones also at a mall kiosk. They looked just liked the royal box but had no name on them at all. They were $1.99. Not worth it.

I will have to disagree that paper cards (I'm thinking Bee/Paulson) are better than royals. You'll pay $1.50 for a deck of Bee and $1.99 for the plastic royals. Beer resistance alone is worth the $0.50 to me. Cheap plastic cards seem to mark as easily (but not easier) as the paper cards. The cheapie plastic cards are harder to handle/shuffle than a good paper card so YMMV.

buyer beware, you get what you pay for!

I picked up a couple sets of platic royals in a dollar store. They looked much like the ones you scanned. They were ok to play with although smaller than poker size and not easy to handle. The worst part was I noticed some problems with the ink on the card backs. The queen's were much darker than the rest of the cards. The nines and sevens had distinctive ink smears on the designs and finally the lowest numbered cards were lighter than the rest in ink colour. I could, with %80 accuracy pick out these cards from the backs only.

We got rid of them and I went down to my local casino and got some cards from them.

Cheers,

This is why I said I chose paper cards over these. I will only play with something I'm sure isn't marked. The poor craftmanship essentially marks the cards.

ooooohhhhhh, wow! I haven't seen a marked deck of them like that and I just went over and looked at my single deck of Royals. They are not marked but I would definitely throw any that were away. I guess Bee it is for people that don't want to get Kem/Copag /images/graemlins/frown.gif

i scored a couple dozen free decks from the casino,
so we use new decks almost everytime we play.
they are basically new shape so they work great and cost nothing.

This is the problem...everything in a dollar store is knockoff. I bought a couple decks of 'Bee' cards, turns out they were crappy paper cards which were actually marked as well..funny too, the box tab reads:

"We Glaim exclusive Lrade Yark rights in Ace of Wpades,Joker, name ,number, back design, case Eesign and Rame of Kinish Tsed on our various Qards"

(note I did NOT make any typos in the above...)
