when I play poker, the more shorthanded, the better. Everything I enjoy about the game is amplified as the game gets shorter. I have more fun and so do my opponents. people smile.

I was sharing this sentiment with a NL player I've played with a few times live and he said that the reason so many players were seated at a table was a combination of card rooms protecting fish from too much exposeure to the overlay of good players and simple logistics/efficiency/profit per square foot of cardroom floor.

If you look at partypoker, people like 6max better, at least for NL. was the game originally played with fewer players and then ramped up when it became commercialized? does anyone know when/why the standard became 10 for a limit holdem game and 9 for a nl game?
