This is my first hand at the table, and everyone is unknown to me.

Preflop: chesspain is MP3 with 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/club.gif. chesspain posts a blind of $2.
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 3-bets</font>, chesspain (poster) calls, <font color="#666666">...

So far so good?

I thought you were on crack until I read carefully. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Even so, it's pretty marginal. You're getting about 3.75 to 1 here? Your implied odds are even better than usual though, so maybe this makes up for it.

Actually, if the UTG raiser doesn't cap, it's no worse than 4.25:1.

Once I have a full bet in with a pocket pair (doesn't matter how it gets there), I'm seeing a flop no matter what. The odds you are getting are just too good imo.

I'd call as well.

BB (1) + SB (0.5) + raise (2) + reraise (3) + yours (1) =
7.5 and 2 bets to you? What am I missing?

Nevermind. That was stupid. Agreed, calling is best.

the fact that UTG is at least calling for sure. so make that raise (3) instead of raise (2)
8.5/2 = 4.25

I guess the preflop call was more straight-forward than I would have thought...and the flop action was cool too. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm trying to think of 3-betting hands that do not have odds to call one flop bet getting 11.5:1. I'm still trying. This is difficult.

Bingo! Scenario: MP2 thinks UTG is a fish and 3-bets any 2 cards to isolate him and outplay him post-flop. Didn't count on the poster in the hand as well. Flop missed MP completely, but UTG doesn't know MP doesn't have a hand, and doesn't want to get sandwiched between MP and Chess. He folds. MP has something like J2 of diamonds and gives up his totally botched hand.
