small pot
you have no redraws
facing multiple opponent with great potential redraws

I fold

at multi-tabling gametime speed i'd call.

i think our position is decent to fold scary turns (turn Q.. bet and raise to us) and push the spadeless sevens.

I'd probably call. OESD, careful with a turned Q or /images/graemlins/spade.gif. An 8 puts 4 to a straight on board, but gives you a nice redraw.

Wow, I didn't think about the nice redraw. I like the call.

Is raising this preflop marginal? I think I usually raise this.

Good pickup there, I think a lot of us missed the redraw.

SSH says raise from LP in loose games and call in tight games. And from other positions it recommends calling.

With two in voluntarily and more possible I tried to play for the set and just call.

Raising may get the blinds to fold, but definitely not UTG or that other player. So on the flop if a 9,T, J, Q, K, or A comes on the board and no 8, I'm stuck in no man's land.

Some regular(s) suggest 3-betting with pairs as low as 66 vs. a LP raiser (putting you in the CO/button) so you get heads up in a 55/45 situation with some dead money in the pot. That, and maybe playing at a super-tight table in MP/LP is the only time I would personally try raising with 88.

OK, I'll take a crack at this. I've just been lurking around- hopefully I'll learn something by posting my thoughts.

I would fold. The pot is small. You have the bottom end of a one card OESD with a two flush on the board.

Except for non-spade sevens, all of your outs are devalued. Frequently, you'll make a hand and still lose. I think you'll lose more money calling then you'll earn when your hand holds up.

Also, I think the pot is too small to consider longshot redraws.
