I'm planning to buy a 2nd monitor to be able to multitable 8 tables. The problem is that my desk isn't that big, so I would need a LCD-monitor (at least it's called so in Sweden, a really thin monitor). When checking I came to realize that the LCD-monitorn usually only have a resolution of 1280x1024 (they become very expensive if you want higher resolution) and that's not enough to be able to put up 4 tables at the screen.

So how do you manage to play 8 tables? Are you using these big old-fashion monitors? Or have you bought one of these expensive LCD-monitors with enough resolution? You have any other advice in making 8-tabling work well? Thanks!

I think you have to spend lots of money and buy 2 good LCD's.
I'm using a normal 19in flat screen monitor. 2 of those could work in theory, but there would be a huge gap between screens which is no good.

What I don't get is this fascination with LCDs. If you can't fit two big fatty Sony G520s on your desk, you need a bigger desk.

Bigger desk -> bigger room -> bigger appartment -> me not afford. LCD is the only solution to the problem here. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Get a loan on it, and pay it back by 8-tabling, of course!

if you own the place you live at (or if youre at your parents), buy another fatty monitor, and cut into the wall. drywall is pretty easy to manipulate and cut, u could just carve out a space for a fatty 21" CRT and save a lot ... but the LCD is just so easy on the eyes! i really think this is mostly the sites' fault, if they followed prima, we could put the tables mini mode and 4 table on our lappy's

FWIW, flat panels usually have a native resolution of 1024 or whatever. This means there are actually 1024x768 (or whatever) physical little dots in the panel. But this doesn't mean that it only displays at this resolution. You can turn up the resolution according to the limitations of your video card, and the panel will "interpolate" the selected resolution. The quality is reduced somewhat, but if your'e not playing doom3 or editing video footage, the quality is usually fine.

Well I bought an extra CRT monitor to 8-table. They're really cheap, I got a used 17" flat CRT for just $70. I'm planning to get a nicer monitor once I can afford it.

Try www.ebay.com--there (http://www.ebay.com--there) are usually good deals on stuff like this there. I don't know if you will have to pay a lot for shipping costs though, that might be a problem. But I think that you can get a decent 17" LCD for around $200. Try http://www.google.com/frghp?hl=en&tab=wf&q= too, you might find a good deal there.

y'all should read Nate Tha' Great's post in general here (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=1767198&page=0&view=c ollapsed&sb=5&o=14). I used to 4-table, I single table now.

It's worth a lot. Maybe about 400$ in saved money for buying a cheaper screen. Playing poker on a screen when you override the native resolution is no problem??

IMO it looks pretty bad, I have a lappy LCD and a 15" on a secondary PC, and when its not on native its kind of a pain to read text, but i guess poker would be allright... take a look at a local PC store and ask to mess with it, see if it is tolerable for you, but order from the USA as it will probably be cheaper
