I would have done the same thingon the flop to protect my hand....

Im curious to see what the other guy called with? Maybe a higher pocket pair?

The flop is not particularly drawish and you should only get called when you're behind (although of course this is not always the case), but I wouldnt want to risk so much. I think you also tend to get more money from hands you beat by making a more reasonable bet, say 2/3-full pot.

There's absolutely no need to open all-in on this flop. Sure, you can overbet to take it down, but you could make the same play pre-flop to flop with 72o. You're still only gonna get called by a better hand.

Just bet .75xPOT and make a tough decision if any action comes back. You have to consider the range of hands with which UTG and CO are willing to call such a mighty pre-flop raise.
