new bands for me to listen to

Hoping for some new music recommendations. I went through the best album of the year post and the ones I agreed with I owned and the ones I didn't I've sampled and don't like (except Keane, for whom my dislike goes way beyond normal dislike). Soooooo, hoping some musicologists can tell me what I'm missing.

Bands I like include Radiohead, Wilco, Shins, Black Keys, Weezer, Death Cab, etc. Thanks in advance....

You can go to the Flaming Lips site and listen to the entire latest CD before you buy. One of the best band websites IMO.

I really like Karate. I have been listening to them lately. I don't have their new stuff but I have the self-titled album and "The Bed is in the Ocean" and both are great. Also, solo stuff from their frontman, Geoff Farina.

Don't know if you listen to them already.

I think that the Arcade Fire - Funeral is the best album of the last six months or so.

EDIT: And I'm pretty sure that The Rapture just consists of of an emo kid screaming "House of Jealous Lovers" for about about 6 minutes. Shockingly enough, it's still pretty solid.

EDIT2: Belle and Sebastian is worth it just for the line "Piazza new york catcher are you straight or are you gay?"

EDIT3: Hum - "you'd prefer and astronaut" and "downward is heavenward" are two of the best albums of the last 14 years.

EDIT4: A 3rd is Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the aeroplane over the sea"
