Call down, fold if BB raises.

Just calling seemed wrong because I badly needed to protect my hand against overcards. I was folding to a 3-bet btw. Folding also seems awful, I probably have the best hand.

What would you have done on the flop and why?

Fold the turn.

While UTG+1 may have semi-bluff bet the flop with overcards, when he pulls the stop and go here on a still drawless board Ihave to think he has either an 8 or a pocket pair. In either case you are in very bad shape and likely drawing to 2 outs. On the turn the only pocket pair you are ahead of is 33 and you are tied with 55. You are behind every other pocket pair as well as 8x. Assuming BB folds here, you are getting effective odds 7.5:2 to call this down. Seems like an easy fold to me.

Folded. You are right that raising is better than calling, but folding is better than raising, IMO.

The pot is small, there's a good chance you are drawing nearly dead, a decent chance you will run into a c/r, and your hand is completely vulnerable even if nobody does have an 8. It's just not worth fighting for versus 5 players.

That is the key variable IMO. If you had JJ,QQ,KK I would of raised, but 55 is an easy fold for me. Good post gaming mouse, you've been really diligent about your 2+2 studies. How many days a week are you on 2+2?
