A site sends me a free invitation to play in a satellite to a WPT event. Value is $25. I win that and get an entry into another tournament. Value $200. Do you guys include these values in your bankroll spreadsheet? I tend to think I should because if I win the main event and pocket $3 million, I'll include that.

any thought?

If you can't withdraw your free roll to buy a hamburger from McDonalds, I don't think it's fair to count that as profit (even though it clearly is profit). If they let you take the $25 instead of entry into the tournament, then I'd count it. Just my opinion.

If you win the entry into the $200, you can book a $200 win.

However if you then lose the $200 tourney, you have to book it as a loss.

In terms of bankroll, I wouldn't count it because it's money that is 99%+ likely to be lost, which means you are operating outside of your normal risk of ruin with that portion of your roll.

both of you make excellent points. No McDonalds hamburger, no inclusion into my bankroll.

thanks
