Hello. This is my first post here and I have to say that this site has extremely helpful insight. Back to the point, at recently won a $25 freeroll at JetSet poker and have around $5 in my bankroll. JetSet has $0.01-$0.02 games, so I was wondering if my measly $5 will be able to cover a couple of hands, or will I have to make a deposit to cover the fee? All help appreciated /images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's 125 big bets and it is .02/.04, so I say just go for it. If you happen to lose all 125 though it doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad player, since you're not really adequately bankrolled.

But you can always deposit later if you bust, so I suggest waiting.

I've played there. The $5 should last you for the rest of the year, if you play good, tight poker. What usually happens - and it happened at Noble, Paradise, Royal Vegas, and Crazy - is that after a couple of weeks of playing with no deposits, I started to get no cards to play. I would be playing at a little above 20% flops, and all of a sudden I am playing about 12%. BIG YAWN. I just left the money there and went elsewhere.

Nowadays, I am mostly enjoying Freerolls at Absolute (my favorite), JetSet (not to frequent), Bodog (I got a free $50 no rake required deposit there), and a few others like Poker Stars, Ultimate Bet, etc. I also play the .50/1 games at Absolute (my favorite of the bunch) and I am trying out Bodog.

So if you are finding yourself bored, there are plenty of places to go for free cash deposits or freerolls.

It's like you've read my mind, I've been playing the freeroll circuit for a few days now, no luck yet, but hey, they're FREE. Anyways, about that free $50 deposit at bodog, did youm win the $50 in a freeroll, or was it given to you for free?

I got a free $50 deposit right into my Neteller account as soon as I opened an account for the minimum $20. It was very fast. Send me a PM and I will send you the link.

Please tell us you know this person and you are only joking. He is a beginner asking a legitimate question in the correct forum. You are suggesting something false and have no business scaring people away from online poker on these forums.

Unfortunately, he's not.

But in Rich's defense, he has gotten better about these sorts of things.

Your Honor, I would like to place this into evidence in my defense:

It's funny - and interesting - reading. Given the total "unknowns" regarding online gambling, I keep my mind open to all possibilities. But for sure, it does get really boring playing only big blinds. Really, really, boring. I had to change venues.

Here is a good link to track all Freerolls. The times are off a bit, so you have to adjust.

So some 'guest' on some other forum says it's rigged and you take it as truth (edit: maybe you're not taking it as truth but it doesn't really matter I suppose)? That's not really any different than us saying it's not rigged. It seems like it's just an opinion (which is fine). But in any case... If you're seeing 12% of flops at a nano-limit game (and yes, cold card rushes do happen) you're playing way too tight and missing out on a lot of profitable situations.

Stop it.

Stop posting garbage in the beginner's forum and scaring the newbies.

It has been proven conclusively that online poker is not rigged.

The moderator has been alerted.

You know, Rich, I bet you're the "anonymous" person who posted that thread in the forum you linked to about online poker being rigged. It sounds a lot like you.

From that post:

" The problem with all these freaks crying rigged is that they dont play a good game. That's why they lose. And because their ego is now shattered they cry rigged to make themselves feel better."

Gee, who's scaring anyone? I'm playing on all of the sites and enjoying it. My strategy, is:

1) To play Freerolls. They are lots of fun and a great way to get experience.

2) Use the Casinos money. I'm up about $400 and haven't used a cent of my own money. There are free deposits available to newbies all over the place. I am discovering new ones all the time, like the one at Bodog.

3) If you get bored, switch sites. There are lots of them to play around in. I think I've tried out about a dozen or so so far, and each one is different.

You guys really gotta lightin' up. Anyway, I am in the middle of a Freeroll on Absolute, and I am doing quite well, so I have to run back.

You are generally right... but many sites are rigged.

Players are profiled, and those that contribute to the action of the site
and help their profitability are favored over those who don't.

Defendant, please rise. The evidence you have submitted to the court is inadmissible and your lawyers are morons. The prosecution has proven over and over in this case that the only "foul play" is with regards to your betting habits and hand selection process. You are hereby condemned by this court to losing play until you come clean and admit that you are wrong. You will now be escorted to the poker room in shackles by the bailiff and forced to play against a non-random number generator until you admit it is nothing like real online play. Next case, please.

Well, I enjoy my play no matter what. I find the tournaments fun. In the last one I played, I finishd 94/2000 (my goal is to always place in the top 10%) and I then I decided I had enough for the day. I really would like to encourage all newbies to try out the Freerolls. There are lots going on on Absolute all the time. Plus, I was able to get $35 from Absolute without any deposit. It may not be available anymore, but I think $10 and $25 can be found by googling.

Good playing my fellow newbies!
