In Sklansky's tournament poker book he recommends limping marginal hands in the early stages of a tournament if you are a better player to take advantage of your skill. After browsing this forum (which I have found very helpful btw) it seems to me that most people prefer to play very tight preflop, even in the early rounds. Any suggestions why? Is it because single table tournaments on sites like party start you off relatively short stacked to begin with?

Also, do you think the hands that you can limp vary significantly with the level of buy in? I mostly play $20 SnGs on party and people make so many mistakes it *seems* like its profitable to limp more hands, especially from position since so many players will pay out if they make any decent hand.
