View Full Version : how to make a bell shaped curve?
made a small quick and dirty program to illustrate winrate/variance and how much luck there is.
but for variance of about 400 i just used
random(1-50)*random(1-50) /2
so the max variance is 1250. (3 std dev.)
and then made it positive half the time and negative half the time.
good enough or no?

well i found a library function that does the trick, but i have to say that it looks like the 50 sided dice hack worked pretty good.

for gods sake i just want to show you a funny picture.
anyway, for some reason i think you have to open a new window and then paste the url: http://www.geocities.com/bradley_abc/running_bad.jpg
to look at it because if you click on it from 2+2 it wont display. dont know why.
or go to http://www.geocities.com/bradley_abc and look at it.

Brad,
I could not help but notice how your graph coincides exactly with each liberal post you make on the Other Topics forum. Perhaps you have full control of this downturn and were simply not aware!! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

nothing is liberal or conservative but that thinking makes it so.
(how bout that bush campaign finance reform law where now jpf (jews for the preservation of firearms) cant go on a talk show 60 days before the election?)
