View Full Version : Tipping when you get quartered or halved?

What is the general consensus on the tip if you get a quarter or a half the pot? I was thinking of buying some 50¢ chips for those times when I only get half the pot, but to tip when you get quartered, particularly when you are already almost always losing money on a quartered pot, seems to add insult to injury. Heh, maybe I should just look at it as a tax on stupid play.

Oh, and this would be at a 3/6 or 5/10 table by the way.

I don't tend to play in casinos much, but when I do I take whatever I would normally tip and divide it by the fraction of the pot I won (I also do this in holdem when I split). Then again the last couple times I went to the local casino I didn't tip anything since the omaha dealers didn't seem to want to take their thumbs from their butts long enough to do their job. (slight rant)

If I get half a small pot, I tip if I got the high half. I don't usually tip if I get quartered but maybe I'm a cheapskate. If I seem to be continually not tipping due to getting low halves only of smallish pots, I just tip the next one regardless. If I scoop a good-sized pot, I tend to tip more than if I won a similar sized pot in holdem-- I figure it all evens out in the long run.

i usually just toke the dealer $1 every 30 minutes when they change dealer shifts. things seem to be easier this way.
