I had to cash out the(little) I had in my account. I am putting 50.00 in today and plan to play almost all weekend.

$50.00

Area-1
Two-10+1 Tournaments
Repeat until I have $100.00

Area-2
Four-10+1 Tournaments
Repeat until I have $200.00

Area-3
Two-20+2 Tournaments
Repeat until I have $300.00

Area-4
Four-20+2 Tournaments
Repeat until I have $450.00

Area-5
Two-30+3 Tournaments
Repeat until I have $550.00

Area-6
Four-30+3 Tournaments
Repeat until I have $700.00

Area-7
Two-50+5 Tournaments
Repeat until I have $1000.00

Area-8
Four-50+5 Tournaments
Repeat until February 28th

- Last weekend I turned 50.00 into enough to play $33's. But I need to follow stricker level standards.

-Is my plan reasonable?

Umm... Am I seeing this correctly? Are you going to start with 4 buy-ins?

I have plenty of back up funds.

OK. Question for my benefit: Couldn't you be more profitable overall by using those funds to bankroll yourself at a higher initial level?

Yea, but it is money I would like to keep in my bank account.

I think it sounds like a pretty fun "experiment". Good luck!

This from the same guy I got in a debate in about bankroll who argued that you should move up to the 10+1s once you get your bankroll to $1000... just thought it was amusing.

Well then your 4 BR limit doesn't apply.

Your bankroll isn't what is in your account, it's the total amount you are willing to invest.

ie if you have $500 in your account, but have another $1k you'd prepare to play poker with, then your BR is $1.5k not $500.

If you lost that 1.5k and have another source of income you would fund poker with, then that income is also your bankroll. If you plan to live & work for eternity and are willing to keep funding poker with that income, then your bankroll is infinite /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Since you posted you thought you may have a problem, setting limits doesn't hurt. Question is, if you lose your account balance are you immediately going to top it back up? If so, then the limit doesn't matter, and doesn't help figuring out whether you do actually have a problem. I say if you lose your balance, leave poker alone for a week (longer is better). If you have the dicipline to not play then you probally just like gambling and that it is not a problem. If you give in then you need to take a serious look at yourself.

The arguement was that he was new to SNG's. I am just trying to have some fun.

Not sure if you explained this already:

You posted you had a problem.

You posted your friend had a problem.

Where you just posting for idea's how to help your friend or do you think you both have problems /images/graemlins/confused.gif

That was for my friend. He lost 10,000 in one weekend. He totally lost it and blew his whole roll.

I feel that if I just put in 50.00 I am not risking much and I still get to play cards.

I will post how long it took to get from step to step. Such as # of tournaments, how many hours, what time during the day did i play, what affected my play, and how good i felt i played at the end of the month.

Yeh I only realized after I noticed you posted the "for a friend" thread.

Why do you want to build up a BR from scratch? If you are profitable at the $55s (and don't make more $/hr at the $33s), then why not just play the $55s? If you are worried about losing, then why not just play lower levels until you have an amount you are comfortable with, or just set a threshold (lose X buy-ins and you drop a level)?

It might be a fun experiment, but in $$terms I think it's a waste. I tend to think like that though.
