This has to be the worst bluff in history
I'm on the button with AA in the first hand of $11 SNG, trying to figure out how to get paid off. Mystery solved

Despite the happy ending, I would have made your bet sizes higher on all streets.

I guess your raise on the flop and on the turn weren't enough to convince him that you had a hand.

With that said, I raise more preflop, put in a bigger raise on the flop and put in a bigger raise on the turn. Glad it worked out though.

Normally I do put in bigger raises, but this was the first $11 SNG I had seen in a long time where it was folded to the button on the very first hand. And it turned out to be a very tight $11 SNG (if there is such a thing)

Ergo, I wanted some action on my AA.
Risky I know.

Several times in similar situations I have won only the antes with a raise, which is a tragedy for AA.

As for the minbumps I had planned to hammer at the river if the board remained unthreatening, but the poor guy beat me to it.

If both blinds had called I would have proceeded _very_ cautiously.

I won't say I played the hand _right_, but I will vary my play a bit and this time I preferred a 90% shot at someones stack to a 100% shot at the antes.

Thanks for the input.

I hate those tight $10 tables.

I actually have done the same thing at a tight table pre-flop.

It's hard to argue with success though as you did get action from exactly the person you wanted it from.

This kinda got me thinking about starting hand values in general, which are highly situational.

Fer instance, where I was sitting at the time, those aces really felt they were worth about $45, which is nothing.

NOW, what is the value of those aces if you are on the bubble? It has to be VASTLY higher.

What if you are the monster stack and there are two itty bitty stacks? Again, the relative value changes, doesn't it?

Another example:
To a short-stack, 55 must seem like manna from heaven. To the chip leader, it's value must be different.

How do you quantify something like this?
Do you even need to?
If so, how do you apply it to your play?

Just random thoughts. Any and all feedback is highly appreciated.
