Very nice. When Homer is stuck in the bumper-to-bumper traffic, then pushes the control & the boulder opens up and he drives through the fancy tunnel.. then ends up back at his house.. Classic.

The best is clearly Ned Flanders, I reference the Flanders vs the Hurricane episode where Ned checks himslef into the insane asylum and we learned about his sordid beat-nick upbringing. And then his house gets torn down by the Hurricane and he goes nuts. Ok, it's just my favorite episode, but clearly all the Simpson's episodes that focus around a character outside the immediate family are the best. (Apu, Moe, Mr Burns, Flanders, Rev. Lovejoy, Hans Scorpio, Barney, Krusty, Principal Skinner, etc.)

Mr Burns has to be #1.

However I think any character Phil Hartman did was brillant. Its kinda haunting when you watch old episodes on tv and hear his voice.

New episodes are far worse than the older ones. They're on season 16 right now so it's hard to keep up the quality for this long. Seasons 3-12 was the prime IMO. They just don't have the simple, but genius lines anymore. Like in the stone cutters episode:

Lisa: Beware the ides of March.
Homer: No.

Genius.

Best secondary character: Milhouse. (Or Thrillho, Fallout Boy, etc)

Best episode: Stonecutters. (Homer Goes to College second)

Did anyone see the commercial for the upcoming new Simpsons episode where there are two Homers and they are making out? Oh man, I almost fell off my chair when I saw that. So disturbing, yet hilarious.

I don't even watch the new episodes anymore, but I have a computer alarm for the 6,730, and 11pm episodes. The new stuff has devolved into The Family Guy. The characters are merely caricatures of themselves and the jokes are neither subtle nor intelligent. They have funny jokes here and there, but it used to be every episode and all the time.
