Flopped set when board is one suit

Bad call EP with 33, 9 handed? It was a loose, fishy table, preflop raises about 1/4 of the time. Little $ signs come up in my head when I flop a set when it comes with an ace. But this time my 3 and the ace and the 3rd card were all spades. The button raised my flop bet when we was quiet preflop, although he did cold call the two bets preflop. I just called, hoping he was raising with a 1-card flush draw so he could raise me again on the turn or put him to a decision when I bet. He does raise me again on the turn, so now I'm in check/call mode by the river. How's the play?
