Has anyone ever seen these video files that allow you to watch them for a certain amount of time, like a rental? How can I get around this and keep the film?

Yea i think. I should be able to use my nerd powers to do this but I was just wondering if I could save some time.

Film it with your digital video camera; re-upload to your computer?

worst...solution...ever /images/graemlins/cool.gif Actually my efforts will be focused on removing the file headers for WMV files that contain the encryption for DRM version 2. duh.

unfortunately DRM 2 has yet to be cracked. from what i hear it's a real bitch. i think i read an article the other day that said some japanese group had claimed to crack it, but nothing came of it. anyways good luck with that..

You're SOL for now. DRM2 is pretty solid. Just go here (http://www.southwest.com/movielink) and get a bunch of free codes for movielink. All you have to do is delete your cookies each time and use a different email address. I got about 75 download codes in 30 minutes or so.

Actually this is a DRM 1 file. Anything for that?

The guy who wrote DeCSS cracked DRM1. You can give his software a shot here. (http://www.nanocrew.net/software/DeDRMS.exe) Don't ask me how to use it, I haven't the faintest idea.

Japanese group info here (http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000900029916/)

What kind of video file is it? It's not a TivoToGo file, is it (cause thats easy)?

Thats a worthy cause. I'd give this (http://www.evillabs.net/tivo/) method a try. If it doesn't work then you've probably only wasted 30 minutes or so.

Ugh, did some research into this, and apparently the DeDRM is for MPEG4 files, not WMV. Still no luck on a crack for DRM1, as it apears I run into dead ends on every lead. *Sigh*, you got a lead on a crack for FRAPS?

Yea, this is moderately huge news. This chick was a good friend of my sister's when we were growing up, and the chick's little brother is best friends with my neighbor. Now I get to watch her end up like a "Got Milk?" ad.

Doesn't fraps have a 14 day trial? Go for astalavista.com and you'll find a crack if it exists. Another option is video-out to a Tivo or laptop. But I'm running out of ideas. Doesn't really seem like there is any price for a video like that that's out of my budget.

Fraps 14 day trial limits vid captures to 30 sec. I may have to buy it as there is no way to permanently own vids from this place.

No luck with that graphedit method, Buster?
