I was asked to find the reutrns for 5 years of two stocks, (HLT)and (BUD). Then I have to calculate the expected returns for both and calculate a standard deviation of each. Just wondering if any of you can help me on where I could find the numbers or what numbers to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Finding 5 year price history should be easy. To estimate future returns Google "discount cash flow analysis" and you should find the basic method.

More detailed estimates and risk factors for each company should be found on their 10K's and 10-Q's which can be read at www.sec.gov (http://www.sec.gov)

Of course, your final analysis will be somewhat subjective.

What do you mean by "calculate the expected returns"?

I'm almost certain he's referring to this:

Capital Asset Pricing Model (http://www.moneychimp.com/articles/risk/classes.htm)

For the original poster, click on the beta keyword for it's description and also use the glossary to look up terms that are unclear.

To calculate a discount rate to be utilized in a DCF type valuation model that Benny referred to.
