View Full Version : Someone stole my money, have a good idea who....

I go to a small private high school around 250 kids. yesterday we had basketball practice from 3:30 to 4:30, when I left to take my car to the shop and and opened my wallet, the cash was gone. Only $45, but still I was pissed. Now, here are the notes I have
1) Varsity stayed for 15 minutes after practice to talk, J.V. was in the locker room for that time.
2)We dont have locks on our lockers(I hid my wallet in my pants, inside my bag, under the bench. When I retrieved my pants, I noticed nothing wrong)
3)This stuff started happening in our school around 2 weeks ago, like 3 thefts before this.
4)I know and like every kid on J.V.
5)3 weeks ago 2 kids from another scool came to ours. One of them is known for stealing stuff, like speakers out of one kids car, money, etc.

What should I do? I obviously thnk that its this kid from the new school, but I can't prove anything. I made some comments about the theft while he was near and had a friend watch him, his reaction was he looked up, then left then right, and then left. That tells me......nothing! I'm friends with almost everybody in the school, and a lot said they would help, and that they thought it was him. Suggestions besides "kick the $hit out of him" are welcome. The punishment for punching someone at my school could be as bad as expulsion, sooo....

Stab him. Better safe than sorry.

Ah High School...

Seriously, it doesn't seem like there is much you can do. Is he bigger than you? If he is younger/smaller, simply walking up to him and saying "I know you jacked $45 from my wallet. I'm going to beat the piss out of you if I ever see you off campus," and then proceed to let everyone you know at your school that hes a d-bag.

At such a small school it should be really easy to get him disliked as you have seniority. You have to be sure though, and therein lies your problem. If you're graduating soon, [censored] it, do it for fun anyways.

Contact the drug dealer at your HS. Now contact his dealer. Ask his dealer for the number of people that know how to get stuff done. Give them his address, they will jack his [censored] and give like a tv in return and they keep the rest of the stuff they like.

You guys should be practicing for longer than an hour. It's gotta be right around playoff time.

"kick the $hit out of him."

In all seriousness, "only $45," "small private school," "take my car to the shop," "HIGH SCHOOL," something tells me you can afford it.

Ahh, i knew there would be a "you're a rich kid, so i don't care" comment. Tell you what, after I graduate from a good college and get a job that pays well (cause its my destiny) ill hire him and you, inchoatehand, and then fire both of you just to be a dick. I said "only 45" dollars because I had my atm card and drivers license and a lot of other crap that he could have taken. And I drive a station wagon, so its not like my parents bought me an Audi. Jesus.

Presumably at a good college (wouldn't know, never been) they will teach you the subtle mastery of internet forums--an arcane skill set that links "replies" to "posts." But yeah, I think you were talking to me. If he/she/they only took your money when you left it laying about, consider yourself very, very luck, and be grateful that your lesson not to leave your wallet laying about was a cheap one.

Falsely accusing him would be terrible. Try and set him up.

Thats whats great about internet forums, they allow people to act like big men and talk down to others without having to actually face them. Look, I was only asking for advice, and the point is taken that it shouldn't have been left out. Thanks.

Presumably in an average elementary school you were taught how to read, an arcane skill that teaches one how to make sense out of a series of symbols commonly referred to as letters. He adressed you by name /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Seriously, if he's new at your school why don't you just talk [censored] about him and basically black ball him? You're high school for gods sake, nothing you do in there actually matters the instant you enter college.

Saying you are lucky and encouraging you to forget about it--the trademark signs of a "bigman."

In the unlikely event that I ever face you as a prospective employer (after your glorious college career), I'll make sure not to identify myself by my handle from a poker forum c. 2004/2005. Thanks.

And what advice did you really expect to get?

And should I be worried about facing you? I mean, you certainly seem pretty intimidating.

jack spade23
02-17-2005, 03:19 PM
Yea, like you weren't trying to be a dick. I actually thought that when I said "thanks" that would be the end of this. In case you didn't get it.....Thank you. Your input is always appreciated.

1. put some [censored] in your wallet
2. put wallet in pants like normal during practice
3. after practice check, see if anything is out of the ordinary
4. if so smell everyones hands

This made me throw up.

Newsflash. You don't know who stole your wallet, you have no evidence other than "This shady guy from some other school.." Chances are it was probably one of the chumps playing JV.

I think the thing that hurts most for you is that it may have been someone you like that took your money from you, not the $45.

Start using a locker, cause as Gunnery Sargent Hartmann says "If it weren't for dipshits like you, there wouldn't be any thievery in this world."

You'll make it back on party in no time.

And in the mean time, keep plugging away at those grades, so you can have an awesome job in 6 years. That way, you can look down at other people. Nice aspirations.

Dude, you're kinda screwed seems to be the general consensus.

I mean, say you accuse this kid and it turns out he didn't take your money. Then what?

The answer to the question is do you feel like being aggressive about getting your money back and perhaps falsely accusing the guy, or are you going to just take the lesson you learned and go on about your business?

If you take the second option, good for you. If the first one is the one you take, better make damned sure you think it through before you accuse someone of stealing from you.

I can't stand thieves. If you are certain this dude did it, handle it in the manner you deem most appropriate. Whether that's "black-balling" him from your circle of friends or beating his ass, it's up to you.

We can give advice all day, but we aren't in your shoes so we don't know the full circumstances.

Yes. You are going to make mistakes in your life that cost you a lot more than $45. This is nothing. I wouldn't spend ten minutes worrying about it.

When I was a senior on the varsity lacrosse team in high school, the first day of practice the coach sat down both JV and V and said that he expected everyone to be men and respect each other. Therefore if anyone was caught stealing anything from anyone else, that person would spend fifteen minutes in the locker room with the team(JV or V) from which he stole something while the coach went somewhere else.

When someone actually did get caught he was lucky in that the person he stole from decided to make him run laps until he thew up instead of laying a beating on him.

No help to you in your situation but I'm at work and felt like telling a story.

you go around talking about how you won in poker last night or something. you put a bunch of shredded newspaper in your wallet, and you put it where you had it before. then you have someone chilling somewhere undetected, waiting for the thief to return.

Step 1) Inform coach and/or principal of the theft. Tell them that you want to catch the theif. DO NOT MAKE SPECIFIC ALLEGATIONS AGAINST ANYONE -- it'll just screw you. Make this about catching a theif and stopping the thefts, not about the person you suspect. Ask them if you can do Steps 2 and on.
Step 2) Write down serial numbers on bills in front of principal/coach.
Step 3) Do the whole "won a lot in poker thing."
Step 4) Leave wallet in unlocked locker.
Step 5) Wait until money is stolen.
Step 6) Watch as principal and coach search everyone on both teams for the missing bills.

Done. You catch the theif and you never accuse anyone w/o specific reason for doing so.
