I 3-bet here and if capped, either check/call or check/fold on turn depending on read.

You're right. I'm giving too much credit to an unknown 2/4 player here.

Check/call all the way down might be best. I'd be afraid of any aggression from UTG, especially if another heart (or broadway card ) fell.

That's the thing, I don't think this improved your winning chances very much. Either you're still ahead of an overaggressive AX or JJ, or you're still behind AK, AA, or KK.

I don't think that card modifies my check/call.

I'm not really happy with the way I'm advocating playing this hand though.

For some reason I thought the opponent was a TAG. Against an unknown, I'm calling this one down on the turn.

TAG NOTES
Against a TAG, I still 3-bet the flop. If he's decent he will call my flop 3-bet and raise the turn with AA/KK/AK to make UTG pay with a draw. I can fold to the turn raise as he is highly unlikely to play anything. If he calls the 3-bet and calls the turn then I can be assured that I am ahead. If he caps the flop then I just call down.

The nonheart Q doesn't really change much considering the play up to this point. Just check/call down. If you just called the flop raise as I think you should have then check/raising the turn would be a pretty good option since UTG would still be in. But I see no reason to spew more chips than needed here when you're most likely behind with 0-2 outs.

The Q doesn't help you at all. Call down again. (After calling down on the flop. Everything about this hand says your beat.

Again, check/call. Another AQ will raise and he's almost certainly betting whatever he's holding anyway after the aggression shown so far.

JoshuaD

Again, Check-call. Even if the river was another Q, I don't think it changes the outcome of the hand.

I like to have an LAG on my right and I'm 3-betting preflop quite a bit. In general I like looser players (passive or aggressive) on my right and tighter ones on my left.

I agree that what you have stated is standard, but I think that it assumes the others at the table will let me isolate the LAG. Many Party 2/4 tables will have nimrods calling 2 cold with any 2 cards of the same color. So often it really doesn't matter where the dumdums sit, as long as it's at my table. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
