I will be going to San Francisco twice in the next month or so, and I was wondering if there are any cardrooms in the city. Both times I will be staying downtown, without a car. Also, I probably will only be able to play for short stretches, so I won't really be able to travel outside the city. How are my chances of getting some card playing in?

No legal games in San Francisco.
Lucky Chances in Colma and Artichoke Joe's in San Bruno to the south of the City are the closest.

thanks for the info... I had a feeling that was the case. How far out of the city are the placed that you mentioned?

I live really close to downtown, and if you had a car it would be roughly a 15 minute drive to either one, in slightly different directions.

From downtown you can also take a BART train to a station near Lucky Chances, and I believe they have a shuttle that goes between the station and the casino. Though I've always driven, so I do not know the frequency of it. This will obviously take you longer than the 15 minute drive.

If only they'd legalize cardrooms in the City. That space downtown in Rincon Towers where Chalkers Billiards used to be would be a great place for a medium to small sized room.

About 8 miles to Lucky Chances, a bit further for Joe's.

Nice quiet location.

In the middle of a bunch of cemetaries.

You can take BART to Lucky Chances (AJs too, I think). Search the archives for instructions--someone posted pretty specific ones in the last month or two.

I just took the BART out there last month when I was there. I took it to the Colma station and then looked for the shuttle to the casino. The shuttle was right outside when I got there behind where the cabs were lining up.

yeah, 2+2ers helped me out on this. the shuttle ends around 12am daily and begins again around 6-7am. its runs every half hour and a taxi cab is about 10 bucks if memeory serves.
