View Full Version : The flop reraise vs. the turn reraise, an interesting hand

10-20 game, I'm on the button with AQs.
A loose game and four people limp in before me. I raise on the button, the small blind reraises, the big blind calls cold as do all the limpers. I also call. Seven players and $210 before the flop.
The flop comes QQx, rainbow. The small blind (who had made it 3 bets) checks, the big blind bets, three of the limpers fold, and I decide to raise now and take charge rather than wait for the turn. The small blind folds rather than call two bets cold, the big blind calls. The turn is an A giving me the boat. Everyone checks to me, I bet, only the big blind calls. The river is a blank, I bet the big blind calls, I take the pot with with my boat, the big blind mucks.
After the hand the small blind tells me that it was a very good thing that I reraised on the flop rather than popping it on the turn because he folded AA and would have definitely called one bet on the flop.
