A buddy of mine played this hand and he thought the guy was a moron. We would have played this hand totally opposite but he thought the guys bets screamed that he didn't want a caller. What do you think?

Limp-fold preflop.
Check-fold the flop.

The converter seems to have screwed things up on the turn and river, however, your frien should not have been in the hand by then.

So many things wrong with this:

Don't raise 9s PF in EP. (I prefer not to raise 9s at all PF)
Calling the re-raise PF.
Betting out with two overcards on the flop when your oppenent showed great strength PF.
Calling the raise.
Not going all-in on the flop if you are calling the raise. (Not that big of a deal though)

Its a bad play to call. If I am proceeding its with an all in raise since my stack is commited anyway. Folding is my play most of the time here...but if I make a read that my opponent has AK or a smaller PP based on my play with them I will push it all in sometimes. Its rare and its read dependent.

Limp/call a small raise preflop.
Fold the flop.

Just to inform you all the MP3 berated my friend for being an idiot at hands end. I guess he too didn't like Hero's play. MP3 was trying to pull a move and my friend called him. MP3 had 88. Is MP3 a moron?

"Is MP3 a moron?" Yes. And my favorite kind. I actually enjoy being berated in this position.

I had some guy yelling at me when I beat him 2 hands in a row (and stacking him.)

In the final hand, I had TP though it was small (l0s or so). I would bet, he would reraise me. Another rag would fall... I would be, he would reraise me. etc. At the showdown, he had nothing. But he insisted that I was an idiot for calling his raises with weak cards. I asked him wouldn't it be more idiotic to reraise with nothing repeatedly? Which simply earned me a string of curses.

I would have to say both your friend and the guy played it poorly, unless your friend had a real strong read on the other guy to know he was ahead (I have trouble believing someone with 9s could confidentally think he was ahead.)

The other guy should have a little class and tell your friend that he made a good call on his bluff.

There is nothing more bitter than getting bad beat on the turn by a bluffing monkey. And there is nothing sweeter than sucking out on the river afterwards.
