Lefties rule. Sadly, we are a dying breed it seems.

According to M. K. Holder, an anthropologist at Indiana University, somewhere between 70% and 95% of the world's 6 billion people are right-handed, and about 5% to 30% are left-handed. A certain percentage is probably ambidextrous (can use both hands). In an article in Scientific American, Holder stated that these percentages "appear to be universally true for all human populations anywhere in the world.

You wouldn't happen to be a Welsh soccer fan would you?

I'm something of an anomoly, in that I write left handed, kick left footed, bat primarily right handed(moderate success as a switch hitter in high school), throw right handed, shoot pool left handed or right handed with about the same skill level, and can shoot a rifle either handed. My left arm is my "strong arm".

I've learned to use a fork easily with my right hand, since I'm always stuck at the table with a bunch of pansy righties.

I write and play racket sports with my right hand but I kick and am left foot dominant, which kind of affects in a weird way the racket sport I play.

Left Handed. Bat righthanded. Golf righthanded.

I am somewhat amibdextrous as are most lefties who must adapt to living in a righthanded world.

I hate scissors.

Patrick, no need to lie. The first thing you thought was Ernie sure is cuter than Bert. Then you went on to the range being too large.

Seriously, I thought this too. Then I tried to figure out how you would narrow down the range...most western countries and European countries have records that can be looked at. But what about Africa? I mean, do you send someone out for several years to do a study? By the time they got completed their data would be inaccurate. Anyway. I do agree the range in insane. I'd say (strict guesstimate) that around 35% of the population is left handed.

People that throw left-handed and bat right-handed are noob. They always sit on the bench in Little League.

Sometimes they become Randy Johnson.

I'm left handed, but I do some things with my right hand as well.

I write and use a fork with my left hand, yet I can't throw a ball with my left hand at all. I use my right hand for throwing stuff, and my right foot for kicking a soccer ball.

I pitch right handed and bat right handed.

It's weird I guess.

I've heard 11% of people in the world are left-handed.

Also, "Among both children and adults, from three to five out of every 100 persons use the left hand for writing. By a conservative estimate, there are roughly 5 million Americans who write left-handed."

this is all about what hand you write with, and throw a ball with i think. everyone does SOME stuff with both hands. also if i'm not mistaken i think in hockey it's natural for you to shoot opposite of your handedness.

My daughter writes with her left hand but because I (righty) was teaching her to throw and hit. She plays softball right handed. I'm a bad Dad. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Eat, play pool, and sometimes write left-handed.

Sometimes write and throw right-handed.

That makes sense, your top hand playing hockey is your right hand which is your stonger more dominate hand. Why more people play hockey "right handed"; and then also play other sports right handed and write right handed doesn't make sense.

I only do two things with my left hand- shoot basketball, and something else. The something else came first because it's hard to operate a mouse with my left hand. After that I just sort of naturally starting shooting left-handed as opposed to right handed when I was a kid.

I didn't know so many people were like this. I'm left handed, meaning I write and use a fork with my left hand. I shoot guns with my left hand, but if I was going to punch someone, it would be with my right. I shoot a basketball right-handed, and play guitar left.

A fair amount of people write with one hand and throw with another.

I write with my left and throw with my right. I can't write well with my right at all and if I try to throw a baseball with my left hand it's not a pretty sight. I talk on the phone with my left hand, use a fork with my left, but kick a ball with my right.

I don't know if this makes me ambidextrous or not.

The world is built for right-handed people. The hardest thing is writing. We lefties have to push the pen, which is hard, smearing everything, whereas righties get to pull the pen behind their hand. That's why so many lefties have their wrists curled up so that they're writing above the line, almost pulling the pen.

I voted left-handed.

I write and eat left handed. I throw with my left hand. I golf right handed, and originally batted right handed (lots of well meaning coaches don't know how to hit left handed, and they naturally teach what they know) but I learned to switch hit as I got older (always more power from the left side, but better contact from the right). I kick left footed.

I write left handed, cut left handed, eat left handed.

I throw, bat, golf, jerk, right handed.

Where does that put me /images/graemlins/confused.gif
