Here is the "Brad Daugherty hand" : K /images/graemlins/spade.gifJ /images/graemlins/spade.gif (the last hand of 1991 WSOP).

PreFlop - I am experimenting with a few more hands in late position on level1 and level2, to gain some post flop experience.

Flop - I hit top pair, straight draw and flush draw (straight flush also). I thought about movin in but I knew I was gonna get called, so that would'nt be a "semi-bluff". If the Ace high flush draw is'nt out there I am a favorite, but I would rather get my chips in with the straight or the flush made. I dont want to drive potential callers out by going over the top on the flop (if I make my hand). I called 150.

Turn - The Ace came. no help to me. I folded because:
1)If I call the SB may shove all his chips in, and I would be pot commited with a one card draw.
2) Pot odds are not so relevant here, most of the time I am left with 400+ chips. I need compensation for that. Is this why a super tight strategy is recommended early in SNG's? Also, the flush is not the "nuts" and someone may already have a straight, so even if I make it too I only split the pot.

How would you analyze this position?

Is my hand good enough to push the flop?

Would you draw on the turn?

Are you hoping for a more perfect flop? I would definately raise the flop. I may go all in or I may just raise big - either way I'm going all the way with this hand.

The only instance where you would not raise this flop significantly to "take control" of this pot is if you think you have a huge edge over the field and can find a better place to put your money in.

Unfortunately, this does not exist in many places online due to the quick blind structure and weak players taking weaker players' chips before you can get to them.

My thinking was:
1) 7 players see this flop with me. therefore TJ is reasonable, and in that case if I draw the T its a split pot. My flush draw is not the nuts, and a guy ahead of me called, suggesting he is on a draw.

2) with so many players with me, my top pair will not be enough to win.

3)even if I am a small favorite on the flop do I want a level 1 coin flip? I am looking for a big hand to double (or triple) up. If worse comes to worse I will take these risks later, when I am short staked and the blinds are high.

I may be wrong but I don't think this is position is easy.

Pushing the flop may be better but I am looking for convincing arguments for each play.

Push that flop.

EDIT: This is why KJs is good in late position. You've seen the action. Now you take control. If you had it in early position, you'dve bet the pot, seen 3 callers, and crapped your pants on the turn. Take advantage of your position and push.
