I often freeze up in these situations myself. I agree this is a horrible laydown, but what should hero's plan be for the hand?

I kind of felt this after I played it. It looks like an obvious ploy by SB to clear the field with overcards or worse pair than my 8s. However, when UTG+1 coldcalls 2 on a drawless board, I felt there was a good chance I'm up against a T and drawing to 2 outs. I think the best play is to 3-bet the flop, bet the turn and fold to resistance, and then check behind on the river if more overcards appear and I'm still against 2 opponents.
