Big Mac's performance declined after he started playing with Jose (in addition MacGwire shattered all the Pac 10 power hitting records years before he met Jose).
I was always curious as to how MacGwire was always so light for a heavy steriod user. With normal body fat, a body builder of a similar height (Lou Ferrigno) would have been well over 300 lbs. Jose was over 250, which seemed about right. But he looked like he was heavier than the much taller big Mac in pictures of them side by side.
