It's a fact that more people are listening to The Smiths than eating your poop.

I just surveryed ten random people and they all said they would enjoy listening to The Smiths more than eating your poop. Only one asked what you had for dinner last night. The people have spoken.

How Soon is Now is the answer, but it's too easy.

Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, & The Queen is Dead are my favorites.

I don't think I noticed how freaking long Smiths' song titles are until I typed that.

The Queen is Dead

[/ QUOTE ]

This would be soooo good if the instrumental at the end wasn't so long.

Why has no one mentioned:

There Is a Light That Never Goes Out?

Also, Panic, Ask and London are great. And Sheila Take a Bow. And, You Just Haven't Earned it Yet Baby.

Any of these are better than How Soon is Now, although that's an excellent song.

They're all the best.
There is a light that never goes out
I wont share you
Last night i dreamt that somebody loved me
Please please please

It's too hard. They dont have a song that isnt amazing.

" Why noone mentioned" There Is a Light That Never Goes Out?

There is a Light is clearly the answer.
Big Mouth and Heaven Knowws are acceptable though incorrect alternatives. How Soon Is Now is plodding and boring.

For some reason this song makes me feel like should be wallowing in the depths of a coke bender... Anyone else?

Seriously though, is it in a movie scene related to drugs or anything? I feel like it has but I can't place it /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Good choice. "To die by your side, oh the pleasure and the privilege is mine". When it comes to lyrics, Morrissey is in a class by himself.

I've always had a fondness for the one that goes "if you have five seconds to spare, I'll tell you the story of my life... 16, clumsy and shy", but I can't think of the name of it right now.

So many great choices. I will go for "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out".

While "How Soon Is Now?" is clearly a classic it probably does not even make my Top 10 personal faves of Smiths songs although it has to be acknowledged as one oftheir great songs because of its importance.

Wow, I didn't think the Smiths were that popular here. I saw Moz at Radio City last year. He opened with How Soon is Now. Awesome. I like Last Night Maudlin Street. Lucky Lisp and Yes I Am Blind off the top of my head. Meat Is Murder is real good too. No one mentioned Suedehead? I guess that's too much (Dial a) cliche.

ok how soon is now is definitely not the best smiths song. it has a great guitar sound but all their songs do and the lyrics and vocal performance on the song are kind of boring relative to their other stuff.

heaven knows im miserable now is one of my favorites...

but clearly their best song is there is a light that never goes out. in is the best example of what they did best and why the kids will love them for years to come.
