So I've never played one of these before. Is it all business or do people talk strategy and discuss the hands during the game?

Thanks

I haven’t posted this for a while, so:

Here’s the full info on the games.

Welcome to the 2+2 SNG gang.

The 2+2 SNG games are $10+1 2-table (18 seat) SNGs on Poker Stars. There is no signup or registration.

You will see a notice Monday afternoons on Multi Table Tournament Forum (MTTF), 1 Table Tournament Forum (1TTF), and Internet Forum (Zoo), and Beginners Forum. Read it. It provides the days, times, and names of the people starting the games for that week.

You find the game by watching for the name of either of the two people designated as starters for that game. PLEASE, wait for the person starting the game. That way everybody knows this is the proper game.

The person starting the game will sign on to the first available $10+1 18 player NLHE SNG on Stars after the specified start time. The starters will take the currently registering game at the start time, if there are 5 or less people already registered. Therefore watch the game currently registering at the specified start time. If 6 or more people are already in it, then we will wait for the next one which may take a few minutes after the hour while the previously registering game fills.

The games are:

The “EURO” SNG game at 4PM EDT/8PM GMT/9PM BST on Tuesday.
(4pm Stars Lobby time)

The “Atlantic” SNG game at 8PM EDT usually on Wednesday.
(8pm Stars Lobby time)

The “Pacific” SNG game at 10:00PM EDT usually on Wednesday.
(10:00pm Stars Lobby time)

The names represent relative time zones only, everyone is invited to play. Ie: the “Euro” game is a convenient evening time for the European players, but if you have the afternoon off you are welcome.

It helps if you pm me with your signon at Stars. That way we know who is who in the game, and we can add you name to the address book for notices. Not required if you wish to remain in hiding. Some do, and it is respected.

The prizes for these events are the normal 2+2 payouts for a 2 table $11 SNG, $72, $54, $36, $18, plus 2+2 bragging rights for the week. Double or Triple bragging rights if you can win more than one. Last Longer bets, challenges, bounties, and other baloney are encouraged.

There is a report posted on 1TTF after the game with the complete game results and sometimes some commentary. Players are invited to post their good, bad, or “How should I have played this?” hands in the report thread.

This is a great opportunity for learners, newbies, and lurkers to play with highly experienced poker players who are coming down from $50/$100/$200 games to play with the 2+2 gang. During the game you may show cards if you wish. Play your own game. I highly recommend that you pay attention to poker. I find that difficult while ROFLMAO at the chat line. While quite competitive, the 2+2 SNG games are a fundamentally social get together of interested 2+2 players. Those who want a highly competitive game series should contact eMarkM about the KotZ series.

Sometimes there is a Saturday game or a 2+2 private tournament announced separately that is either a cash game or a satellite to the Sunday 200+15.

See you at the games.

There is most certainly some discussion or banter during the games. Depending on who is playing the chat line can be hilarious at times. Keep in mind tho that the games are open to all, so often there are players that are not 2+2ers.

The standard recognition for 2+2 players is "Does the brown trout sleep in the closet?" Response is "Aye". Or recently almost anything re brown trout.

And yes there is some play discussion. And sometimes we recruit a new 2+2er. These games are for 2+2 posters. Not sponsored by Two Plus Two Publishing.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (6 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

MP (t2235)
CO (t1880)
Button (t2125)
SB (t2515)
Hero (t1065)
UTG (t1870)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, J/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG calls t150, 3 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (t450) 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif, K/images/graemlins/club.gif, T/images/graemlins/heart.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG bets t220, SB folds, Hero raises to t915, UTG folds.

Final Pot: t1585

A good play, or a bad one that worked out well? UTG had been making lots of plays at unraised pots, so I thought a reraise with a double gutshot would be a good play, but after seeing the pot and bet size again, I'm not so sure I wasn't just the beneficiary of a bad fold. Any opinions?

From the 2-table SNG 2+2 game, blinds are 50/100:

CO (5527 in chips)
Button (2100 in chips)
Villain (1035 in chips)
BB (1728 in chips)
UTG (2760 in chips)
Hero (2160 in chips)

Hero has A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif

Folds to Hero, Hero raises to 300, Villain reraises all-in to 1035. Hero???????????

At this point out of 18 people, there were 13 left. Villain up until this point had been tight. I made a very weak, tight fold here since I was getting around 2 to 1 on the call. The only hands here that would not justify a call would be JJ-AA and A10-AK. What is the best move here and why?

I don't think you had enough chips for the check raise. I think you would have been better off just moving in after the flop. The way you did it, he had better odds for a call if he had any kind of draw. You probably just caught him with absolutely nothing.

Toro

The more I look at this the more I think you may have made a good fold. It all depends if villian knows the game. If he knows the game he knows you're getting 2 to 1 so he would be stupid to move in with a hand that he doesnt have you totally dominated.

But he could have a pair 88 and lower. More likely that he had A big so you probably made a good fold.

Got-the-Sock and I had no chance. The last 2 guys couldn't miss. I lost a ton of chips when I ran into quad 4's. The guy that won hit consecutive boats to win. Good showing with 5 of us at the final table and 2 ITM. Thanks to all that came out!!

This hand was from the Atlantic game. Comments please. After thinking about it since Wednesday, I am still not sure how it should be played.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t400 (4 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Button (t9894)
SB (t6831)
BB (t4820)
Hero (t5455)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 8/images/graemlins/club.gif.
Hero raises to t1200, 1 fold, SB calls t1000, 1 fold.

Flop: (t2275) T/images/graemlins/spade.gif, J/images/graemlins/club.gif, 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t1200, SB raises to t5606,

Here is the interesting point in the hand. I have an 8 bb stack (3055 left after the flop bet), we have played 8 hands at level VIII, blinds are about to go up to 400/800 ante 50. Four left. I tend to try to gamble to win once in the money. I catch a one card OESD with an A kicker on the flop. Villain is a 2+2er (Spazm6666). His all-in raise tells me he has at least a pair. I have 11 outs twice counting the stupid end st draw and 3 aces. Probability 1-((47-11)/47)*((46-11)/46) = 41.7% = card odds of 1.4/1, pot odds 7055/3055=2.3/1 on the call. Lose I’m out, win I am chip leader at 11,310.

Call or not?

Reason why: 1) When the blinds go up, I will have 4bb left, and it will cost $T1400 an orbit. I have to catch something or bluff something soon, 2) the oesd and A is not a completely terrible hand, 3) pot odds are ok.
Reason why not: 1) I clearly do not have the best of it, 2) I have a less than even chance of catching, 3) If I catch the straight or the A, I still do not have the nuts, 4) General principle: MAKE all in bets, Don’t CALL all in bets.

Comments?

This was the hand that Spasm6666 put me out of the Atlantic game in fourth.

Here is how it played out:

Hero calls t3030 (All-In).

Turn: (t12111) 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t12111) K/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t12111

Results in white below:
SB has Qd Th (straight, king high).
Hero has Ad 8c (high card, ace).
Outcome: SB wins t12111.

After thinking about this:
1) If I made the decision to play it after the flop, I should have pushed instead of bet then call the push, although it would have come out the same as he had oesd plus a pair and almost certainly would have called the allin.
2) Can I realistically check an 11 outer on the flop because it is the stupid end, then fold to his obvious all-in after he catches the straight on the river? If both checked the turn, this would let me keep 4255 chips allowing one more shot to find a decent hand with the blinds about to go up. On reflection, this may be the only way not to lose the stack on this hand.
